MC-707 Toolbox 1.6.2
1.6.2: Feels like a desktop app. In the Windows and Mac apps, the app’s top bar is now the window’s title bar: drag it to move the window, double-click to maximise. Windows’ buttons match the app’s colours, and on a Mac the menus live in the Mac menu bar. The window opens where and how big you left it, with no white flash on launch, and the app no longer behaves like a web page: no accidental text highlighting, no bouncing lists, normal arrow cursors. In Song Mode, the playhead no longer draws over the track names when you scroll.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.6.1
1.6.1: The Slime Lab’s bench, and search. Under a smaller slime, Mutate sprouts four variations of your tone (lock the parts to keep; click one or drag it onto the slime), Morph A ↔ B slides between two snapshots, and Ear test trains you to name a hidden ingredient. An envelope view shows the amp and filter envelopes as you play, and a search box finds ingredients. The Sound browser’s search now takes words in any order and ignores case, spaces and punctuation. It also understands instrument and category words, and starters have proper categories.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.6.0
1.6.0: Slime Lab (experimental). A visual way into sound design in the ZenCore editor. Your tone is a living slime that wobbles, glows, drips and swells with the sound. Drop in 42 ingredients (oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, pitch, space and effects), and the MC-707 changes as each one lands. Learn why each works, see exactly what changed, and dial in the settings behind it. Drag the Character bars, choose which partials to work on, and build 10 classic sounds step by step (acid, Reese, wobble and 808 basses, supersaw lead, pads, brass, plucks, lo-fi keys, sync lead), all from moves you can make yourself.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.5.5
Project files: every scene and its chain length now comes in, and looper recordings play and save as WAV.
Polish: the version and update check on the start screen, knob jobs in Live Mode, right-click on scene pads, the Scene Mode Mixer button, the tooltips and the two small fixes.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.5.4
Use the README’s 1.5.4 bullets as the notes:
Master FX settings: Master level, plus Reverb, Delay, Multi FX, EQ and Comp panels.
Quieter effect changes: the track mutes briefly while it takes a new effect.
Faster master reads: master settings are now read in whole blocks, which fixes Read from MC-707.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.5.1
1.5.1: Pump (sidechain), experimental
Pump in Scene Mode: right-click a bass, pad or chords clip and pick Pump (sidechain)…. The part ducks on every kick and comes back. It’s written into the clip’s motion, so the MC-707 pumps it by itself with no computer.
Volume or Filter. For Volume, press KNOB ASSIGN on that track once and set SOUND (C4) to Level. Filter works straight away.
Depth and fine timing: when the dip starts, how long it holds and how long it takes to come back, set in eighths of a 16th, eased or straight. It’s drawn over the whole clip and close up on a kick.
Help › For developers › Motion test shows which knob each motion lane moves on your MC-707.
Built on Ada Locriana’s mctools_sidechain, with her suggestion for finer timing.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.5.0
1.5.0: Scene Mode
Scene Mode (new, experimental): arrange a song as the MC-707’s own clips and scene chain, then write it over USB so the MC-707 plays the whole song by itself. Make the clips and scenes from your Song Mode arrangement in one click. Edit any clip’s notes and its sound in the ZenCore editor. Every clip and scene shows whether it’s written, changed or new, so you can write only what changed. Thanks to Ada for the pointers on the scene chain.
Your MC-707 clips: read a clip’s notes into My patterns, write patterns into clips (each one read back to check), or send a whole song’s patterns. Triplets go in triplet steps, and drum rolls and flams use the MC-707’s sub steps.
Theme: dark by default. Change it in Settings › Theme (Dark, Light, or Match the computer).
MC-707 Toolbox 1.4.1
- Mac and Linux apps: MC-707-Toolbox-mac-arm64.dmg (Apple Silicon), MC-707-Toolbox-mac-x64.dmg (Intel), and an AppImage and .deb for Linux. The Mac app isn't signed with a paid Apple certificate: the first time, open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
- ZenCore editor: switch each partial on or off in one click from the partial bar.
- New in 1.4: Song and Live mixers you can drag to another screen, Synth Mode's Expand, folders and multi-select in the Sound browser, and more. See the README.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.4.0
- Mixers: Song Mode and Live Mode each get their own mixer (level, pan, reverb, chorus, mute, solo, activity lights and meters) in a window you can drag onto another screen, in the colours of its mode. In the Windows app the window is borderless, with pin (stay on top), minimise and close.
- Synth Mode: Expand a track to edit it in the full ZenCore editor while the others shrink to a column. The reverb send is gone (the MC-707's main effects only reach its MIX output).
- Sound browser: your own folders; Ctrl/Shift-click to pick several sounds and tag them, set their category, copy, move or delete them; a Tag filter; saves always land in My sounds; Edit in ZenCore and Done buttons.
- ZenCore editor: ◀ ▶ beside long lists such as the MFX type. On the start screen too.
- Factory tones: random pitch number and condition now read correctly (thanks kraftf, #2).
- Live Mode: the speed buttons are gone.
couple other small fixes.
MC-707 Toolbox 1.3.9
What's in 1.3.9:
Factory tones now keep their portamento start setting (checked against tones read back from an MC-707)
