The hooks' default timeout was below the cost of the query they exist to run. The
installed configuration setDEXICON_TIMEOUT=5, and a query the embedder has not seen
was measured at about 5.4 seconds on a 15,213-chunk index, so theUserPromptSubmit
hook timed out on exactly the case it is for. The default is now 10 seconds.A server that is down is still caught by the two-second connect timeout, so the longer
value is only paid when one is answering slowly. The figure was already in
hooks/claude/README.mdas the reason the per-prompt hook ships switched off; it had
not been carried into the timeout beside it.An existing installation keeps the file it has. Change
DEXICON_TIMEOUTin
~/.claude/dexicon-hooks.env, or delete the file and re-run
install-mcp.ps1 -What hooksto regenerate it.
