Frame Interpolation

Use this to: make video smoother by adding frames (e.g. 30 → 60 FPS). Needs RTX 40 / 50. This does not enhance detail — combine with Video tab if you need both.

Steps

  1. Open Frame Interpolation tab.
  2. Drop in video(s). SDR works always; HDR needs HDR Mode on (see below).
  3. Choose Output FPS — e.g. 60. If you pick at or below source FPS, no new frames are made, just resampled.
  4. Leave DLSS engine on Auto, Codec H.264, Container MP4 for first try.
  5. Preview 3 sec (single video only) → then Interpolate video(s).
  6. Get result from right-side player + files list.

Needs HAGS enabled in Windows + recent NVIDIA driver, or it will fail fast with a clear error.

Advanced
  • Engine: Auto = use exact native multiplier when possible, else 2x cascade. Native forces exact grid (fails if unsupported combo). Cascade forces staged 2x interpolation passes, useful when the target requires multiple interpolation stages, such as 30 → 120 FPS.
  • FPS choices use exact broadcast rates (23.976 / 29.97 / 59.94 are 1001-based) — normal for video tools.
  • HDR: same rule as Video tab — only H.265 / AV1 / ProRes keep HDR, H.264 is SDR-only. Leave off unless source is HDR.
  • Codec / Quality / Container / Rename behave exactly like Video Enhancement.
  • Heavy motion, cuts, duplicates are detected automatically to avoid ghosting — report in logs/ shows generated vs copied frames and cuts.
  • For best quality on difficult footage: enhance first in Video tab, then interpolate the result.
