Injector type:

I used a 12V fuel injector for a Citroen C3, a small European car that has a 4 cylinder petrol engine. The injector type is 01F023. I bought it for about €10 (US$10) on a Chinese web shop. I marked the + connection on the housing. If you swap the polarity, the injector will not be damaged and not work. S7300884 S7300885

Fluid consumption:

The fluid consumption was measured running the injection system at 5 Hz. The (2L) Garden sprayer was half filled and brought on pressure using one stroke of the pressure pump. Then the fluid consumption was measured by spraying 1 hour at different pulse times (milliseconds). The weight of the sprayed fluid was used to calculate the fluid consumption in milliliter / hour and cubic inch / hour. I normally run at 5Hz and 2 millisecond pulse time. At that rate I can run 50 hours before re pressurizing the garden sprayer and 100 hours before the half filled bottle is empty.

pulse time and fluid consumption

ms ml/h in3/h
1 6 0.4
2 10 0.6
5 15 0.9
25 68 4.1

Power supply:

The injector needs a 12V pulse and can run at max 14V (running car motor battery voltage). The injector draws 1A current when activated. Under typical working conditions, the pulse time is less then 10 ms at a frequency of 5 Hz. Under these conditions the average current drawn will be less than 0.05 A. The PCB is designed for a 24V power supply to activate a 24V air valve. Two step down converter modules generate the 5V supply for micro controller board and the 12V supply for the fuel injector. If the air valve is not needed, the PCB can be powered using using a small 16V adapter.

Estimated injector life time:

This injector should last in a car running at 120 km/h (3000 RPM) at least 120.000 km, that is 1000 hours. In a 4 stroke petrol engine it runs at 1500 pulses/min, 25 Hz. So at 5 Hz the injector should last 5000 hours. That is more than half a year continues running.
