WinThumbsPreloader 1.1.1
New Features:
- Holding "SHIFT" in the GUI lets you open the folder that ThumbnailExtensions.txt is located at when pressing the "Extensions" button
Changes and Bug Fixes:
- Fixed missing context menu from folder background due to Windows 11 update #10
- Drive context menus no longer require command prompt to open to start preloading
- Context menus in general should be more flexible with different folder and path names
- Updated version checker to use a more modern HttpClient instead of using WebClient
- ThumbnailExtensions.txt now uses ProgramData instead of the same folder
if the program is located in Program Files in order to fix permission issues - File scanning optimized and made slightly faster
- Optimized CPU usage and reduced overall preloading time
Before (1.1.0)
After (1.1.1)
Notes:
-
Use SvgSee instead of PowerToys for SVG thumbnail generation due to SvgSee being significantly faster when processing thumbnails, especially when preloading a drive. Using PowerToys causes the system to lose responsiveness when preloading thumbnails along with slowing down the speed of thumbnail generation. SvgSee also works when running the program as admin unlike PowerToys.

To modify the processed thumbnail extensions, click the extensions button in the GUI to generate a thumbnail extensions file. You may separate thumbnail extensions using spaces, commas, separate lines, or any combination of those. If the file is empty, the program will include all file types. If the file doesn't exist, it will use the default extensions of common files that can generate thumbnails.
