Setup SSH keys and Clone Repo

You will need to setup ssh keys to push to the remote repo without logging in each time. This will streamline the committing process associated with git.

1. Create SSH Key

Open PowerShell and enter wsl by typing **wsl**

Create your key

$ ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "your_email@example.com"

Next you will be prompted with the following line Press Enter

Enter a file in which to save the key (/c/Users/you/.ssh/id_ed25519_sk):[Press enter]

Next enter a passphrase for your key. Be sure to remember this passphrase or you will have to do this again. You can leave it empty as well. You will do this twice.

You will need to copy the contents of the file. You can find it in the File explorer at:

C:\Users\YourName\.ssh

Right click the id_ed25519.pub file and open with Notepad and copy the contents to your clipboard. It should be something like

ssh-ed25519 ..... youremail@email.com

Now follow the instructions at This Link to add that key to your account.

2. Clone the Repo

From a directory where you would like to clone the project enter the following command in PowerShell:wsl

git clone git@github.com:Mgonzalez-droid/SeniorProject.git

You will be prompted to enter the password for your ssh key you defined earlier.

That is it now your repo is setup with ssh keys on your machine and you will be able to move on to the next step.
