new Features:

  • Support Tang Nano 20K onboard BL616 µC (only newer assemblies marking: 3921)

Note

Latest version v1.4.2 or newer of FPGA-Companion to be programmed onto TN20K onboard BL616 µC.

In order to make use of the TN20K USB-C Connector in Host mode you need to power TN20K by it's 5V/Gnd HW pins or better use a USB-C hub that delivers power to both TN20K board and provide connectivity + power for USB Keyboard / Mouse or Joystick.
Example of a simple USB hub ( 1 x USB-C connector + 3 x USB-A). USB-A (M) to USB-A cable (M) + USB-A Power Supply Adapter 2A
Relevant point of this Hub is that the 5V pins of all the 4 USB connectors are connected (no polarity / reverse current protection)
Also a multifunctional USB-Hub with Power Delivery pass-through had been reported to work.

  • If you deliver the 5V power by Tang HW pins then a USB wireless dongle for a Keyboard/Mouse combo can be connected with an adapter to the Tang USB-C port and you will get a rather compact setup.
  • Be aware that internal BL616 is selected only if no external M0S dock / PiPico detected from core (remove M0S dock / PiPico from your shield).
  • No support for WIFI modem possible as simply antenna is missing.
  • Onboard BL616 µC will run now a dual stage bootloader and start automatically the enhanced companion firmware when no PC USB port (Programmer) detected. That means for (.fs) bitstream and (.bin) rom programming you need a straight connection in between TN20k and your PC (no USB hub) and in addition to that power-up the board while keeping button S2 pressed for a few seconds.
