Fullscreen Map

Summary

The Fullscreen map is the bread and butter of the mod. It gives a similar experience to web maps (I hope) while also interfacing with the BTE projection and your player character.

Map tiles are provied through OpenStreetMap, a free and community maintained mapping service that allows people to use its data for various other projects, such as this one.

Navigation

• Zooming

Zooming can be accomplished either with the Zoom Buttons or by scrolling with the mouse. If Reverse Scroll is enabled, the direction of zoom will also be reversed. If zooming using the scroll wheel, the center point you zoom in on will be focused on the mouse position, as long as the mouse position is valid. Otherwise, the center point will be the center of the screen. The Reset Map button will reset your zoom to 0

Zoom levels range from 0 (the whole world) to 18 (the smallest tile size). If Artificial Zoom is enabled, the smallest tiles will be scaled up for a maximum zoom of 24.

• Panning

Panning can be accomplished by clicking and dragging the map. Some buttons, such as the Reset Map button and the Follow Player button can also change your map position.

Buttons

The 6 primary buttons

• Zoom in/out

These button will zoom the map in and out. The center point for the zoom of these buttons is always the center of the screen.

• Reset Map

This button will reset the map to the default state, which entails the following:

  • Unbinding from the player (if applicable)
  • Setting the zoom level to 0
  • Centering the map on the screen

• Follow Player

This toggle button will center your player character on the screen. In this state, the map will be panned to keep the player in the center. This state can be disabled by clicking/panning the map or by using the Reset Button.

• Configuration

This button will open the Configuration Screen.

• Exit

This button will close the Fullscreen Map. Alternatively, the map can be closed using the escape key.

• Toggle Hud Elements

This toggle button will hide all Hud elements. This is not the same as the Toggle Hud Elements keybind; This button is dominant over the keybind, and the keybind will do nothing if this button is enabled.

Text Fields

• Bug Report

This is a clickable field that will take you to the Issues section of this repository.

• Contribution

This is a clickable field that links to OpenStreetMap's Copyright Page and to any other attribution sources defined in tileSources.json.

Right Click Menu

The Right Click Menu

• Teleport Here

Uses /tpll or /tp to teleport you to the selected location. The command used is determined by the RCM Uses option.

• Copy Coordinates

Copy the coordinates of the selected location. The coordinates are copied in the decimal-degrees format and truncated to 7 digits.

• Open In

Can be used to open the selected location in one of the following applications:

  • Google Maps
  • Google Earth
  • Google Earth Pro*
  • OpenStreetMap
  • Bing Maps
  • Apple Maps

*This option doesn't open Google Earth Pro directly, it instead prompts your system to open a .kml file. The default application for this is usually Google Earth Pro, but if it isn't, an alternate application will be opened.

• Create Waypoint

Takes you to the waypoint creation section of the Waypoint Screen, with the coordinate fields already filled out based on the selected location.

• Edit Waypoint

Similar to the Create Waypoint option, but the section will instead show the edit menu for the selected waypoint.

• Reverse Search

Uses photon to return the name of the selected location or structure. If photon cannot find an associated name, a generic error message will show.

• View On Map

Pans the map to the selected waypoint.

• Unpin

Unpins the selected waypoint from the Pinned wayponts section.

• Set Snap Angle

Sets your snap angle config value to the one assigned to the selected waypoint.
