First Official Release – MyKextInstaller v1.0

I'm pleased to announce the first official release of MyKextInstaller, a lightweight and easy-to-use macOS utility designed to simplify kext installation.

This version, like the previous Beta releases, includes:

  • Automatic detection of whether the kext is from Apple or a third party, and installs it in the appropriate location:
  • /System/Library/Extensions for Apple kexts and /Library/Extensions for others
  • Correct permission and ownership settings
  • System cache and snapshot rebuilding
  • Automatic installation of the Kernel Debug Kit (KDK)
    Originally created to restore legacy audio support (like AppleHDA) on macOS Tahoe Beta 2, MyKextInstaller has evolved into a more general solution for managing kernel extensions with ease from Big Sur 11.5+ to macOS Tahoe.
