DDV Save Editor — Category Audit & Routing Accuracy Update

This update focuses heavily on catalog accuracy, automatic category auditing, and several final routing/image corrections discovered during testing.

New: Category Audit Panel

A new Category Audit tool has been added as a sub-view inside World Cleanup.

It is intentionally read-only and is designed to help identify catalog mistakes before they become save problems.

Category Audit can now:

  • Scan the currently loaded profile for misplaced inventory entries
  • Scan the editor catalog for incorrectly routed items
  • Scan both at once
  • Detect duplicate category placement
  • Detect restricted items appearing in normal categories
  • Compare runtime placement against the editor's curated category rules
  • Search findings by ItemID, item name, category, or reason
  • Copy ItemIDs directly from the audit panel
  • Export audit results to reports/category_audit/

The audit performs no automatic deletions or save modifications.

Category Audit Rule Improvements

Several false positives were corrected so the audit now understands the editor's actual category structure rather than relying only on broad ItemID prefixes.

Correct placements now understood by the audit

  • House → Houses is recognized as the correct location for player houses and house skins
  • Mount Gear is correctly recognized under:
    • Mounts → Accessories
  • Sven's Formal Bow is correctly recognized under:
    • Mounts → Skins
  • 110600xxx Phone items are correctly recognized as:
    • Tools
  • 110800xxx handheld items are correctly recognized as:
    • Clothing → Accessories
  • Fencing items are correctly recognized under:
    • House → Fencing
  • Elegant Firework Wings is correctly recognized under:
    • Clothing → Gliders

This significantly reduces false audit warnings.

Clothing & Skins Fixes

Ariel's Pink Gown

  • Removed from Clothing
  • Now appears only under Skins
  • Duplicate category detection corrected

Winter's Wonder Ariel

  • Removed from Furniture
  • Now appears only under Skins

Seaside Royal Outfit

The male and female variants remain separated correctly.

The female version now uses the exact correct image supplied for:

  • 50900169 — Seaside Royal Outfit — Women's

The female outfit can no longer fall back to the male shorts image.

Glider Fixes

Elegant Firework Wings

  • 50800150 — Elegant Firework Wings
  • Now belongs under:
    • Clothing → Gliders
  • Removed from normal Clothing
  • Category Audit now also recognizes this placement as correct

Its upgraded variants remain hidden from the normal catalog:

  • Luminous Firework Wings
  • Crackling Firework Wings

The existing 3-level evolution system remains intact.

House & Fencing Fixes

Edwardian Iron Corner

  • 40005166 — Edwardian Iron Corner
  • Removed from normal Furniture
  • Correct location:
    • House → Fencing

Category Audit now treats this as the authoritative placement.

Toy Store House

  • Correctly recognized as:
    • House → Houses
  • No longer falsely flagged as Fencing or Paths

Mount Fixes

The audit now correctly understands:

  • Midnight Carriage Bridle → Mounts → Accessories
  • Midnight Carriage Harness → Mounts → Accessories
  • Formal Bow Sven → Mounts → Skins

These were already correctly routed in the editor and are no longer reported as category errors.

Tool & Accessory Rules

Phone routing has been clarified and made authoritative:

  • 110600xxx → Tools
  • 110800xxx handheld accessories → Clothing → Accessories

This rule is now shared by both the runtime routing and Category Audit.

Audit Reliability Improvements

  • Fixed the original Category Audit installer path issue
  • Improved runtime-category aliases
  • Reduced false duplicate-category findings
  • Audit rules now respect specialized categories over broad source dictionaries
  • Category checks remain manual/on-demand
  • No startup audit
  • No polling loop

Preserved Behavior

This update does not change:

  • All Items lazy-loading
  • Inventory Space
  • Star Path removal
  • Quest/Mission/Activity protection
  • Add All safety rules
  • Profile save format
  • Core editor architecture

No changes were made to:

  • app_base.py
  • main.py
  • plugin_loader.py

The editor remains plugin-based.

  • Elegant Edwardian Wallpaper → Wallpaper

Quest, Mission & Internal Item Safety

  • Restricted items are excluded from:
    • Add All
    • Add All Source
    • Other bulk-add operations
  • Manual selection remains available where intentionally supported.

When a profile is loaded:

  • White = owned

  • Cached normalized names, ItemIDs, source metadata, and image lookups.
  • Reduced repeated asset-folder scans.
  • Improved switching between House categories such as Fencing, Paths, and Landscaping.

  • Prevented male and female outfit variants from borrowing each other’s images.
  • Prevented House items from using broad name-based image fallbacks.
  • Missing exact images now remain visibly missing instead of displaying an incorrect asset.

Preserved Behavior

  • All Items remains lazy-loaded.
  • Inventory Space remains available.

    • app_base.py
    • main.py

💜 Final Notes

This release represents a major rebuild of the DDV Save Editor rather than a minor update to the previous friend version.

The goal is a cleaner, more reliable foundation for future content updates, artwork improvements, and additional editor features.

Thank you for testing, reporting issues, and helping improve the editor.

Here's to a fresh start — and hopefully a release with significantly less fire. 🔥
