Mnemosyne OS — Infinity Edition v1.3.6 · The Persona

Your memory, your machine. Mnemosyne OS is a sovereign, local-first memory
operating system: your documents, notes and conversations become a living,
searchable memory that never leaves your computer unless you say so.

This release is about the OS taking your shape: it speaks four new
languages, wears the colour you choose, gives its voice a face you pick —
and its assistant a character. Underneath, web search finally works, and
you can see exactly what everything costs your machine.

Highlights

🌍 Four new languages — Deutsch, Português, Русский, 中文

The shell now speaks seven languages: English, Français, Español, and — new,
in beta — German, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese. Every settings page,
every widget, every dialog. Cartridge content falls back to English while its
translations catch up, and the ★ Recommended embedding model follows your
language too, so retrieval quality follows the switch.

🔮 The orb gets a wardrobe — and a full-screen mode

The voice assistant's orb is no longer one face. Five abstract skins
Aurora, Nebula, Plasma, Halo, Constellation — join the face family, each
tuned to its own geometry. And when you want the assistant to be the room,
a full-screen option lets the orb swallow the whole viewport.

🎨 The accent colour is yours

Pick your accent in Settings → Appearance and the whole shell follows —
chips, hovers, the brand mark, the close button, the title bar and canvas
(coloured directly, or derived from your accent). This runs deep: dozens of
places where the theme silently never arrived were rewired, and cartridges
now inherit the host's design tokens live
— an installed app matches your
theme the moment you change it.

🎭 A character for the assistant — that never touches your memory

The chat quick rail gains a cognitive lens: sixteen archetypes that shape
how the assistant speaks — its tone, its angle, its manner. By design the lens
is a costume, not a filter: we measured what happens when personality is
allowed to steer memory retrieval, and it degrades factual recall — so the
costume stays a costume, and your memory stays exact. A companion voice for
text replies
is on by default, and the soul settings take their real name:
Psyche.

🌐 Web search that actually works

Auto web mode reached the web again — its gate had quietly died. It is
rebuilt on model triage, so it works in any language, with your own trigger
words
, a relevance guard that keeps on-topic results in other languages,
and SearXNG one click away. Pages are read as clean markdown, keeping the
passages that answer your question — and the chat can no longer cite a web
search that never ran.

📊 See what it costs the machine

System Diagnostics became a cost meter: a live chart of CPU, memory, GPU
and VRAM over the last four minutes, and Mnemosyne's own network usage,
split by destination
— what the app puts on the wire, visible. The disk
tools can now reclaim space nothing could reach (22 GB on the machine we
measured), and a counter the machine can't read shows “—”, never an invented
zero.

🪙 Credit by card, license in the app

Buy cloud credit with a card — a themed confirmation names the wallet
being credited before anything is charged. The Engramm license is sold in
the app
, free-credit and free-license requests are capped at one per wallet
per 24 h (and say when they can be asked again), and every sale lands in the
Founders Console.

🚪 A quit you can trust — and take back

Closing the app shows a measured estimate and a countdown you can
cancel
; every shutdown step is now time-boxed. The freeze some of you hit on
quit lived exactly here.

🗣️ Voice installs, hardened

The multi-gigabyte voice-engine downloads are now resumable and owned by the
app
: silent steps get a heartbeat, progress reads in MB against a GB total,
the license padlock is visible before you click, and measured runtime
budgets decide which engine your machine can actually run.

✨ Around the shell

One hairline switch everywhere, one header across all seventeen settings
pages, no native dropdown left in the panel. The About page breathes — the
animated infinity, and where to find us. MnemoHub opens one window per
cartridge
, local cartridges stop waiting on the network, and the creator
door says plainly that publishing needs a license.

Fixed

  • Chat: renaming or recolouring a conversation no longer reorders the history,
opening one no longer jumps it to the top, and the view no longer scrolls
away while a long answer is being read.
  • Language changes reach already-open windows immediately.
  • The diagnostics disk scan no longer freezes the app.
  • Cloud calls migrated off Gemini 2.5 ahead of its retirement, so nothing
    breaks under you in October.

First-launch notes

  • Windows: this build is code-signed (Certum OV certificate, publisher
TONY TROCHET, RFC-3161 timestamped). SmartScreen builds its reputation from
download volume, so it may still warn on a freshly signed identity → More
    info → Run anyway
    .
  • macOS: ad-hoc signed (Apple Silicon only) → right-click the app → Open
on first launch. A real Apple Developer ID + notarization is coming.
  • Linux: chmod +x *.AppImage && ./*.AppImage, or sudo dpkg -i *.deb.

Auto-update is built in: installed apps pick up future releases from this
repository automatically.

Installed separately from MnemoHub, not bundled here: the Muse
app-builder cartridge — which this cycle learned to import the Open Design
catalogue (151 design systems)
, model a design as a mix by role, and use
real installed fonts — and the reworked Translator.

Everything above runs locally. Cloud features (optional) are strictly
key-gated and never see your vault data.
