The Maven Central artifacts are not ready for use. Breaking changes are expected before v0.0.1. I can't publish another Maven Central version till next month because I'm out of publishing quota ;-;

Lightweight Kotlin Multiplatform library for country metadata, with optional Compose Multiplatform UI components.

Kountry also provides localized country and currency names and symbols using each platform's native locale APIs. It's meant for quick MVPs and prototypes, with emoji flags instead of image assets, but feel free to use it beyond that if you want to :)

Installation

Add Maven Central if you haven't already:

On JS/Wasm targets, wrap your content with PreloadEmojiFont so emoji flags can render properly:

For localized names in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, or other non-Latin scripts, you may also need to preload a font that supports those characters.

Data Sources

The country dataset is based on the following sources, as of 2026/08/13:

• ISO 3166-1 for country codes
• ISO 4217 for currency codes
• ITU-T E.164 for calling codes
