Custom mpv.conf

Is there a way to use a custom mpv.conf with the desktop client on Windows? If not, could it be considered? I use one now with the standard Jellyfin client so I can use SVP Pro for Rife AI. I tried just putting the mpv.conf file I use now in the Moonfin directory, but it didn't pick it up.

Thank you for adding this. I cannot for the life of me get it to work though for SVP 4 Pro. I am using the exact same config as I use with Jellyfin Mediaplayer/Desktop (old 1.1.2 and dev 2.0), but it is not working. I have playback, but it is not going through SVP. Now with the dev 2.0, they added a "Manual MPV Configuration" section where you paste in the mpv commands under Client Settings. That's how I got it to work on the dev build. The old Jellyfin Mediaplayer 1.1.2 used the mpv.conf file. I tried with Unsafe advanced mpv options on and off, but no difference for me. I specified C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Moonfin\mpv.conf as the location and put the file there. I am not sure what else to try. This is what my mpv.conf looks like: input-ipc-server=mpvpipe hwdec=auto-copy hwdec-codecs=all profile=gpu-hq target-colorspace-hint=auto Hr-seek-framedrop=no Thanks...Brian

Yes thank you! The only additional thing I had to do for it to work with SVP was replace the libmpv-2.dll included with Moonfin with a newer one from mpv. The DLL still says v2.0.0.0 but the latest is 115.2 MB compared to the one with Moonfin that is 28.3 MB. I got it from here if you are interested in changing the one included. https://github.com/shinchiro/mpv-winbuild-cmake/releases

Just checking if you accidentally forgot to include this in 1.3.0 or if you decided to not include the other dll. If you aren't including it for some reason, no problem, it's easily replaced for my needs. Thanks again for the updates.

100% forgot, my bad. I work off issues across the different repos plus get discussions and reddit messages and comments so things can slip by sometimes but also after looking into it the 115 MB version doesn't seem to have a benefit for playback for most users. The only reason to use it is if you need third-party filter frameworks like SVP or avisynth. Also shipping the larger DLL would 4x the download size for a feature most users don't really use. I did add it to the README though

Completely understand not shipping it in the release considering the size difference and the probably small user base it targets. I'm used to replacing the DLL from using Plex and the old Jellyfin client in the past, so no big deal.

Out of curiosity, what is the benefit to shipping the 115MB version of MPV compared to the 28.3MB version? The later seems to have been functional for all intents and purposes on my end.

The 28.3 MB version that ships with Moonfin is a stripped-down libmpv build with just the FFmpeg codecs needed for normal Jellyfin playback (h264, hevc, aac, ac3, etc.). It handles everything the app needs out of the box.

The 115.2 MB version from shinchiro is a full build with every FFmpeg codec, vapoursynth and avisynth filter support, libplacebo with full GPU shaders, shaderc/vulkan compute, and a bunch more protocols and demuxers. The reason SVP doesn't work with the smaller DLL is that it needs vapoursynth filter support to hook into mpv and inject its frame interpolation. That support simply isn't compiled into the lightweight build.
