Header Menus

The header bar at the top of the screen holds five dropdown menus, plus any a game package has added. From left to right:

  • Admin (a gear icon, tooltip "Admin / Uninstall"): MDW's own two actions, plus any rows a game package has contributed above them (see Scripted Control) - those lead, MDW's two follow under a divider, so Uninstall never moves out from under a pointer that knows where it is. Rebuild UI tears the UI down and builds it fresh, consumer registrations included - the recovery hatch for a half-torn session (mdw.rebuild() does the same). Uninstall MDW - or "Uninstall " when a game package brands the UI (see Getting Started) - is a two-step confirm: the first click arms it and the row turns red reading "Click again to confirm"; click again within a few seconds (uninstallConfirmWindow, 4s) to uninstall. Uninstalling removes every game package registered in mdw.gamePackages first, restores your original main-console font size, deletes the saved layout, and then removes MDW itself.
  • Sidebars: Toggle visibility of the left sidebar, right sidebar, and prompt bar. When a sidebar is hidden, its border space is reclaimed by the main display. Docked widgets are preserved and restored when the sidebar is shown again. (The items come from mdw.config.sidebarsMenuItems.)
  • Widgets: Toggle visibility of individual widgets, listed alphabetically with a [x] checkmark showing the current state. Clicking a row toggles that widget and leaves the menu open. Only individual widgets are listed - tabbed groups are not. Unchecking a grouped widget removes just that tab from its group; re-checking it brings it back as a floating widget in the centre (mdw.showWidget returns it to its group instead - see Scripted Control).
  • Font Size: Adjust font sizes with - value + steppers. Rows: Top Menu (header buttons and menus), Widget Header (widget and group tab labels), and Main Font Size (the Mudlet console). Under a Widget Font Size heading come Prompt (the prompt bar) and one row per widget for its per-widget offset.
  • Theme: Switch between color themes (gold, fantasy, emerald, sapphire, ruby, slate, violet, copper), each drawn in its own accent color. Hover a theme to preview it live; click to apply. Applying leaves the menu open.

A game package's own menus follow Theme, in the order it declared them (see Scripted Control) - MDW's five never move to make room for them. Their rows can be actions, checkboxes, dividers, sliders you drag, or several of those laid side by side in one row.

Click anywhere outside a menu to close it. Only one menu can be open at a time.

Programmatic Control

mdw.toggleWidget("Inventory") -- Toggle a widget's visibility by name (menu semantics)
mdw.showWidget("Inventory") -- Reveal by name; see Scripted Control for the full set
mdw.setSidebarVisible("left", false) -- Sidebars and prompt bar by value
mdw.setMainFontSize(12) -- Absolute font sizes; the +/- rows call these setters
mdw.setTheme("emerald") -- Apply a theme by name
mdw.cycleTheme(1) -- Cycle to the next theme (-1 for previous)

Every menu action has a named, set-semantics function behind it (the menu is a thin layer over them) - see Scripted Control.
