Escherian Time Loop

Two or more futures linked together by an event in their past. A good example for an Escher Time Loop is a successfully executed grandfather paradoxon: As it is not possible to create it, a second timeline comes into existence. In the first one, no time traveler arrives in the future, and the child who will travel back in time comes into existence, growing up. As soon as it goes back in time and kills his/her grandfather, this timeline will become a second timeline.

In this second timeline, since the grandfather of the child is dead, the child itself will never be born. As such, no one will travel back in time to kill the men that was just killed – leading to the existence of the first timeline.

A travel back in the future can end up in either of the timelines, dependent on the method of time travel used.
