Kitchenplaner 0.2.0

Plans that hold up in front of professionals: a PDF plan set to scale, stable position numbers, products and prices, real doors, automatic backups, and an app that keeps itself up to date.

Improved

• „Plansatz als PDF…“ (menu „Exportieren“): floor plan, the four elevations, the equipment list and the 3D view as one PDF, on A4 to A0, landscape or portrait, at a fixed scale (1:20 to 1:200) or the most detailed one that fits. Each sheet has a frame and a title block with project, client, drawing number, revision, date, sheet „n von m“ and scale. The dialog says before the export when a drawing does not fit the sheet and offers a scale or paper size that does. „Bezeichnungen im Grundriss“ prints the names next to the position numbers.
• Position numbers stay with their unit: deleting or moving a unit no longer renumbers the others. „Positionen neu nummerieren“ (project panel, nothing selected) numbers all units from 1, clockwise around the room starting at the top left, when you want a fresh order.
• Products and prices: manufacturer, type, article number and net price for each unit in the inspector, in the equipment list, the CSV and the PDF, with the total price.
• „Gleichzeitigkeitsfaktor“ in the project panel: the electric and gas totals are shown as the plain sum and with the factor, in the project panel, the status bar and the CSV. Connection values are marked as typical values to check against the manufacturer's data, in the inspector, the CSV and the PDF title block.
• Doors: hinge side („DIN links“, „DIN rechts“), opening into or out of the room (or to either side of a partition), one or two leaves, and the new „Schiebetür“ with the side it runs on and the way it opens. H changes the hinge side and Shift+H the opening direction of the selected door, also in the right-click menu. Plan, elevations, 3D and „Prüfung“ follow: the area that has to stay free lies where the door actually opens.
• Automatic backups: while a project has unsaved changes, Kitchenplaner keeps a backup a few seconds after the last change; the status bar shows „Automatisch gesichert …“. If Kitchenplaner ends unexpectedly (a crash, a power cut), the next start offers „Wiederherstellen“: the project comes back with all changes, still unsaved.
• „Messen“ (key M): click two points in the floor plan for the distance and its X and Y parts; Shift snaps to 45° steps.
• „Ausrichten und verteilen“ for two or more selected units: align left, right, top, bottom or centred, distribute three or more evenly, or line them up without gaps; in the inspector and the right-click menu.
• Right-click menu in the floor plan with the commands for what is under the cursor (units, walls, corners, doors) and their keys.
• A short introduction on the first start: six steps from placing units to exporting, with the keys as your computer labels them, and „Beispielküche öffnen“. „Einführung…“ in the menu „Darstellung“ shows it again.
• Kitchenplaner updates itself: it looks for a new version at start and every few hours and shows a quiet notice with „Jetzt aktualisieren“ and „Später“; unsaved changes are saved first. „Automatisch nach Updates suchen“ and „Jetzt nach Updates suchen“ are in the menu „Darstellung“.
• Drawing number and revision of the project, shown in the title block of the SVG and PDF sheets.
• Equipment models reworked in every area: hoods with folded fronts and collars, round induction zones, kettles sized by volume, gas units with their flue outlets in plan, elevation and 3D, wire shelves and baskets as real rods, brushed steel and chrome without bands, freezers marked with a frost strip.
• A website with downloads and install help for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Fixed

• Names in the floor plan („Bezeichnungen im Grundriss“) no longer run into each other or over the position numbers: each name sits inside or next to its unit, is shortened to the unit's width, and is left out where there is no room for it.
• Overhead units (hoods, wall shelves) are drawn solid in the elevations, dashed only in the floor plan.
• Floor drains and drain channels lie flush with the floor; bains-marie and hot food wells hold water.
• The catalog previews show the units with their real-size steel surface.

Checklist for Windows (manual)

• Download Kitchenplaner_0.2.0_x64-setup.exe from the release and install it over 0.1.0 (SmartScreen: „Weitere Informationen“ → „Trotzdem ausführen“): Kitchenplaner starts as 0.2.0 and the introduction opens once; „Überspringen“ closes it, the next start does not show it.
• Open Beispielkueche-Restaurant.kplan from the release: the plan shows 65 positions; delete position 12: the numbers of the others stay; „Positionen neu nummerieren“ in the project panel closes the gap.
• Select a unit, enter manufacturer, type, article number and price; set the „Gleichzeitigkeitsfaktor“ to 0.7: the status bar and the project panel show the kW with the factor; export the list as CSV: Excel shows the new columns and the totals with umlauts.
• „Plansatz als PDF…“ on A3, automatic scale, with „Bezeichnungen im Grundriss“: the PDF opens in Edge and Acrobat, the sheet count matches the dialog, the plan measures true at the scale in its title block (1:75 on A3) when printed at 100 %, and no name overlaps another or a number.
• In „Raum“, select a door: switch „Anschlag“, „Öffnet“ and two leaves in the inspector, then H and Shift+H; change it to a „Schiebetür“: plan, elevation and 3D follow; „Prüfung“ reports a unit placed in the door's swing.
• Make a change, wait until the status bar shows „Automatisch gesichert“, end Kitchenplaner in the Task Manager („Task beenden“), start it again: „Wiederherstellen“ brings the change back and the title shows the project as unsaved.
• Press M and measure a wall in the plan: the length matches its dimension. Select three units, right-click: align and distribute them.
• „Darstellung“ → „Jetzt nach Updates suchen“: „Kitchenplaner ist auf dem neuesten Stand.“
• After the next release: the notice „Version … ist verfügbar“ appears; „Jetzt aktualisieren“ with unsaved changes saves first, installs and restarts into the new version.
• Uninstall in Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Kitchenplaner: it is removed from the Start menu and the installation folder.

The first release: plan commercial kitchens in a floor plan, four elevations and 3D, on Windows, macOS and Linux. Everything runs on your computer; a project is a single .kplan file.

Improved

• „Grundriss“: the room and every unit to scale in millimetres, with dimensions, a grid and snapping; units snap with their back to walls and partitions and line up with their neighbours, guide lines show where.
• Four elevations („Ansicht Nord“, „Ost“, „Süd“, „West“), dimensioned and derived from the plan. „Schnitttiefe der Ansicht“ sets how far they reach into the room: only the wall, „Halber Raum“ or „Ganzer Raum“ (for every elevation and the exports).
• 3D view of the whole kitchen: perspective or „Parallelprojektion“, „Von oben“ and „Von vorne“, a view cube, „Wände ausblenden“ for the walls towards the camera, a „Höhenschnitt“, and „Begehen“ to walk through the kitchen at eye level (W A S D or arrow keys).
• A catalog of 165 units in eight areas (cooking, cooling, washing, tables and preparation, serving, storage, ventilation, building elements such as columns, shafts, floor drains and channels), each with a 3D preview and its connection values; many come in several standard widths and as electric or gas units.
• Editing in two modes, switched with Tab: „Einrichten“ arranges units, „Raum“ edits corners, walls, partitions and openings. G moves, R rotates, X and Y lock an axis, a typed number gives the exact distance or angle, Enter or a click confirms, Esc or a right click cancels; Shift+D duplicates, A selects all, and a selection frame dragged to the right takes units fully inside, dragged to the left every unit it touches.
• „Umriss zeichnen“ draws the room wall by wall: click or type each length, it snaps to 90° and 45° and to corners, and a click on the start point closes the room.
• „Trennwand“ draws walls inside the room; doors, windows and pass-through hatches („Durchreiche“) sit in walls and partitions.
• „Prüfung“ points out units that overlap, stand outside the room, block a door, are higher than the room or stand in a partition.
• „Geräteliste“: every position with its size and connection values (electric kW and voltage, gas, cold and hot water, drain, exhaust air) and the totals.
• Exports: the plan as SVG, DXF and PNG, each elevation as SVG and DXF, all elevations as one SVG, the 3D view as PNG and the equipment list as CSV for Excel.
• Projects are saved as .kplan files; double-clicking one opens it in Kitchenplaner. Undo and redo for every change, and a question before unsaved changes are lost.
• An example kitchen to try everything: the restaurant kitchen „Restaurant Lindenhof“ with 65 positions, attached to this release as Beispielkueche-Restaurant.kplan (German) and Example-Kitchen-Restaurant.kplan (English).
• German and English, light and dark design, each following the system or chosen in the app.

Checklist for Windows (manual)

• Download Kitchenplaner_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe from the release and start it: SmartScreen warns about an unknown publisher; „Weitere Informationen“ → „Trotzdem ausführen“ starts the installer. It installs without asking for admin rights, and Kitchenplaner appears in the Start menu.
• Start Kitchenplaner from the Start menu: the window opens with an empty project, no error message.
• Download Beispielkueche-Restaurant.kplan from the release, open it with „Öffnen…“ (Ctrl+O): the plan shows 65 positions; „Alle Ansichten“ (key 4) shows plan, 3D and elevations, and „Prüfung“ finds no problems.
• Double-click the downloaded .kplan file in Explorer: Kitchenplaner opens it.
• In 3D, „Begehen“: walk with W A S D through the kitchen, Esc ends it.
• Drag a unit from the catalog into the plan, then press G, X, type 1000 and press Enter: it moves exactly 1 m along the X axis; Ctrl+Z puts it back.
• Tab to „Raum“, draw a „Trennwand“ and add a „Durchreiche“ to it; save with Ctrl+S, close and open the file again: both are there.
• Export the plan as SVG, DXF and PNG, the elevations as SVG, the 3D view as PNG and the equipment list as CSV: every file opens (browser, a CAD viewer, Excel with umlauts shown correctly).
• Switch to English and to the light design in the app: every text and the 3D view follow.
• Close the window with unsaved changes: the question appears; cancel keeps the window open.
• Uninstall in Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Kitchenplaner: it is removed from the Start menu and the installation folder.
