v1.4.2.1
Polished it so you'd shut up, Morty
Everything since 1.4.0.1, rolled into one. Combat got rebuilt, every enemy fights different, I talk a lot more, a pile of bugs are dead, and the story actually makes sense start to finish now.
Combat, rebuilt from the studs up
You were leveling off every kill and beating the whole game with nothing but echo scream. Fixed all of it.
- The free-heal exploit is gone. Leveling restores part of your bars now, not a full top-off, so kills aren't a free spa day anymore.
- Echo scream costs Charge and has a cooldown. No more spamming it. It's a finisher, not a security blanket.
- The XP curve ramps, fast early then it makes you work for it, so you stop tripping over a new level every fight.
- The whole difficulty ladder got cranked up. Easy's still easy, Normal means it now, Hard bites, Nightmare is brutal but winnable.
- Monsters scale with you, and I retuned everything against a geared-up Morty using the real heal-and-charge numbers. Trash is a warm-up, the elites bite, the bosses will end a careless run.
Every enemy fights with its own moves
Frundles infects you, Tammy throws your aim off, Morty Jr. melts down, Unity drains your Charge, the Butter Robot hits you with existential dread, Conspiracy Morty rants till you lose a turn, Zeep's sentry dumps a microverse on your head. The drones get cheap shots and rattling blows. They all talk trash. Nothing chains into an unwinnable loop.
I talk to you a lot more now
- Poke a room before it's time and I'm on the comms roasting you for it, custom to the room, three ways each, randomized. Story rooms and side-quest rooms both.
- The equip screen is a real back-and-forth now instead of one flat instruction, with bolded names.
- Talk replies don't pile on top of each other anymore.
Story and ending
- The home base is finally my garage, dead ship in the corner, like the story says, instead of somehow also being the Citadel plaza. The Citadel's still out on the map where it belongs.
- The whole ending got rewritten. Build the core, the ship roars back to life, we tear through reality at full throttle, and it all screeches to a halt in a drive-thru because the one thing worth crossing the multiverse for is the last Szechuan sauce in any reality. You scream, I eat nuggets, President Morty watches the most dangerous ship ever built idle outside a burger joint.
Fixes
- The Mega Seed bug is dead for real. If the injector's in your bag, a stray seed gets pulled into your inventory, so the achievement unlocks.
- Hidden ambushers clear out at 100%, no more getting cornered after the game's over.
- The quit button asks before it closes now: save and quit, quit without saving, or cancel. No more losing progress to a stray click.
- Fixed a save bug where starting a new universe over an old one wouldn't wipe the old one until you finished setup, so bailing midway brought the old game back. The old save is now replaced the moment you confirm, and if you quit or reload before finishing your character, it resumes setup right where you left off instead of loading the old game.
- Hitting New/Load while in a game now prompts to save first (save, leave without saving, or cancel) and fully closes the running game to the title screen before opening the universe picker, instead of leaving it running in the background where it could re-save over a slot you just overwrote. The Player Info panel and mini map clear on the way out too, so no old game data lingers on screen.
- A side quest you could finish without meeting the quest-giver is gated properly now.
- All the black backgrounds match.
- The README stopped bragging it was three versions out of date.
- Fixed the quest counter showing "6/5" after all five quests were done; it caps at 5/5 now.
- Fixed enemy HP jumping the moment you attacked. Monsters are now scaled to your level when the room reveals them, so the HP shown matches the HP you fight, instead of growing on the first hit.
Now go play it. And touch some grass after.
