ZDoom Vita v0.12.0
Changelog:
New feature: Configs. Save and load your mod load orders with the press of a button!
New feature: Improved loading feedback. Now uses the original ZDoom console to show loading progress. No more black screens.
New feature: Console command support. Simply go to Options then Go to Console, and input your desired commands. The original cheat codes like IDKFA do work.
Numerous loader tweaks, bugfixes and adjustments. Now looks a bit more put together and has support for browsing and loading folders/subfolders. Select now adds launch arguments for those who know how to use them.
Several audio/video backend fixes to ZDoom. Ogg support has been added, HUD scaling to fix custom huds in Vita Settings, and sound pitch randomization actually now obeys the on/off toggle.
Squashed numerous bugs relating to mod support, including a particularly sneaky one which stopped configs from being saved when mods are active, also fixed Vita Settings to show with mods.
ZDoom Vita v0.11.0
Changelog:
Squashed a loader logic bug keeping Hexen Deathkings from loading.
Small loader improvements including revising previously ambiguous information and background logic.
Doom 1 Shareware now hides itself if the full version is detected, and VOICES.wad is automatically hidden if detected since it's for strife.
ZDoom Vita v0.10.0
ZDoom Vita v0.10.0, based on ZDoom 2.8.1. This is a decently working vibecoded prototype that I've decided to release publicly. Future improvements/bugfixes may come at some point. This release is a bit rough around the edges and admittedly my first public release ever, it's my own small way of giving back to the homebrew community that has given me so much over the years.
Includes a built-in wad selector and other novel features to adapt to the PSVITA. Overclocking to 500MHz is highly recommended.
IWAD files (main game data .wad files for doom 1/2, tnt, plutonia, hexen, heretic, strife, etc.) go in ux0:data/zdoom-vita/iwad and PWAD files (mod files, custom maps, etc) go into ux0:data/zdoom-vita/pwad. Comes with copies of Freedoom and the Doom 1 Shareware Episode since both are freely, legally redistributable. If you want to play something else, get the .wad data files from a copy of Doom 1/2, etc. that you legally own and place it in the aforementioned directory.
Hexen, Heretic, Strife, etc. are all supported. Other iwads are also probably supported, have not tested that far yet.
Your mileage may vary if mods/custom maps are used. Performance is not perfect, but is quite good on original WADs. Anything that requires GZDoom likely will not work, and I sadly cannot fix this as it's outside of the scope of this project.
If you have issues, general comments, or feature requests, contact me at misterazrael1@gmail.com or on Discord under misterazrael if you don't want to submit an issue here. I'm always interested in any good ideas anyone might have for future improvements, so shoot them my way if you got 'em.
Disclaimers:
This is a heavily AI assisted project. I've done quite a bit of tinkering, troubleshooting, and directing once AI got me a stable working product to get this working even half-decently on a Vita and give it some spit polish on top of that, but at the end of the day it is still an AI vibecoded thing.
I assume no liability for any damage to your data and/or device that may occur from using this program. With that being said, this has been thoroughly tested on a real PSVITA and hasn't given me any issues personally.
ZDoom Vita is an unofficial, independently developed homebrew port of ZDoom for the PSVITA. This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Sony Interactive Entertainment, id Software, or the original ZDoom development team.
