PhoneGyro v2.0.0

Caution

⚠️ The project has been renamed: GyroBridge → PhoneGyro

Every release before v2.0.0 (all GyroBridge v1.x builds) is now considered deprecated and highly unstable. Do not use them. They are left on this page only for history and will get no fixes.

The rename is a hard cut with no migration and no backward compatibility:

  • The executable is now PhoneGyro.exe. Delete the old GyroBridge.exe.
  • Settings, profiles and calibrations now live in %APPDATA%\PhoneGyro. Nothing is imported from %APPDATA%\GyroBridge — recalibrate every device. The old folder can be deleted.
  • The local certificate authority is regenerated as PhoneGyro Root CA. On iPhone/iPad install the new profile again (Initial Setup) and remove the old GyroBridge Root CA profile.
  • The phone page, the Live Debug window and the DSU output changed their internal formats in this release; mixing a v2.0.0 PC app with anything from v1.x is not supported.

v2.0.0 itself is a large rework of the motion pipeline and a first release of USB controller support. It has been tested on the author's setup; please report anything odd.

Caution

⚠️ Проект переименован: GyroBridge → PhoneGyro

Старый GyroBridge.exe удалите.

PhoneGyro turns your smartphone (iOS or Android) — or a DIY USB motion controller — into a high-precision, low-latency motion controller for PC games and emulators via the Cemuhook DSU protocol.

What's New in v2.0.0

USB motion controllers (PhoneGyro Hardware Protocol)

  • New input mode: switch between Phone and USB. Any board speaking the open PhoneGyro Hardware Protocol (e.g. Arduino Nano + MPU-6050) is found automatically on any serial port.
  • Separate state per source: phone and USB keep their own profiles, calibration and axis alignment.
  • Device name frame: a controller can introduce itself; the name shows in the UI and in profiles.
  • Sensor mount-tilt correction (USB): if the IMU board sits tilted inside the case, calibration measures it from the rest pose, verifies it against the gyroscope (so an accelerometer offset is never mistaken for a tilt) and rotates gyro and accelerometer together. Shown on the calibration confirm screen with a toggle.
  • Gyro zero tracking that works on USB: the resting bias refinement now detects rest by the gyro's spread instead of its raw magnitude, so temperature drift of the MPU-6050 is actually tracked.

Orientation (AHRS) rewrite

  • The 3D view now uses a complementary filter whose gyro mapping has the correct handedness. The old "PadTest Madgwick" clone was mirror-handed: multi-axis motion never returned to its starting pose (38–40° left over on real logs, now 2–5°).
  • Tilt correction fades to zero at rest — no more constant drift kick.
  • The filter is fed exactly what goes out over DSU, so the cube matches PadTest and games.
  • LEVEL indicator keeps its familiar directions (forward = bubble up, clockwise = needle right).

Rotation is no longer lost on Wi-Fi hiccups

  • DSU packets are timestamped with the device's own clock. Previously, after any Wi-Fi stall most of the rotation made during the stall was lost in the game (the client integrated it over ~16 ms instead of the real interval).
  • The phone page sends a 64-bit integration clock; keep-alive frames no longer re-send a stale rotation rate.
  • Heartbeat filler frames only after 250 ms of silence; a reply to a client's data request no longer adds phantom rotation.

Calibration

  • New explicit accelerometer axis-alignment step; rest gravity and axis mapping stored per profile; outdated profiles are flagged.
  • Calibration wizard layout no longer jumps while values update.

Honest diagnostics

  • Latency / ping are now measured (server PING/PONG round-trip over the same WebSocket as the telemetry) instead of fixed or random placeholder numbers. Connection quality follows the measured ping.
  • Loss card in Live Debug now measures the real link: lost frames by sequence number for USB; merged and lost sensor samples for the phone.
  • The app shows its exact build version.

GyroBridge turns your smartphone (iOS or Android) into a high-precision, low-latency motion controller for PC games and emulators via the Cemuhook DSU protocol.

What's New in v1.1.1

Zelda Aim Target Shooting Mini-Game

  • 30-Second Target Challenge: Added a target shooting mini-game directly into the Aim Test Bench. Hit targets in succession to build the highest score within a 30-second window.
  • Immediate Synchronous Respawn: Fixed a CSS syntax token issue in calc() and removed async delays; targets now respawn immediately upon hit.
  • Center-Anchored Layout: Targets and floating score indicators are anchored to 50% / 50% coordinates with pixel offsets, guaranteeing complete visual stability during fullscreen transitions, window switches, and DPI zooming.
  • Dual Mode Support: Targets are available both in the compact settings preview widget and in full-screen expanded view.
  • Interactive Shot Feedback: Cyan reticle flash, Web Audio procedural harmonic chime, target explosion animation, and floating score popups.
  • Persistent High-Score Tracking: Highest score tracked in local storage and displayed in the fullscreen HUD and Game Over screen.
  • Keyboard Controls: Space to center gyro or restart, Enter to play again, Esc to toggle fullscreen.

Aim Orientation & Pitch Alignment

  • Natural Bow Aiming: Adjusted pitch direction so tilting the phone downward lowers the reticle and tilting upward raises it, matching standard first-person and third-person console gyro controls (e.g. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom).

UI Resilience & Stability

  • Auto-Recovery on Window Switching: Automatically restores targets if the viewport loses focus, changes resolution, or switches between bench tabs.
  • LiveDebug 3D Window Hardening: Set enforced minimum dimensions (880x520) to prevent card clipping and overflow during window resizing.
  • Shortcut Hints: Added interface hints regarding Ctrl +/-/0 zoom hotkeys in settings.

Security, Antivirus & Transparency

GyroBridge is 100% free, open-source software under the MIT license. It does not collect telemetry, contains no analytics or ads, and makes zero external network connections (all communication is strictly restricted to your local Wi-Fi network between your PC and phone).

Because GyroBridge is an independent open-source project without a paid enterprise digital signature certificate ($400+/year EV Code Signing), automated machine-learning heuristics in some antivirus engines (such as Microsoft Defender generic !ml tags) may initially flag freshly compiled Go binaries.

If you have any security reservations:

  1. Audit the Code: Every line of code is open in this repository. You can inspect it yourself or pass it to any AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) for an independent audit.
  2. Build from Source: You can compile GyroBridge.exe directly on your PC using the official Go and Wails toolchains in just a couple of minutes.

GyroBridge Release v0.3.0 — End-to-End Motion Pipeline

Release Date: September 17, 2026
Build Target: Windows x64 (GyroBridge-GUI.exe)
Status: Stable / Milestone Release

Executive Summary

GyroBridge v0.3.0 marks the completion of the full end-to-end motion pipeline: turning any modern smartphone (iOS Safari / Android Chrome) into a zero-latency, ultra-precise motion controller for PC emulators and games via the Cemuhook DSU protocol.

From the automated in-browser pairing and local Certificate Authority to the 4-step 3D calibration wizard, real-time Madgwick AHRS sensor fusion, and jitter-free DSU telemetry streaming, the complete workflow operates autonomously in a single static executable without external servers, drivers, or runtime dependencies.

Key Features & Highlights

1. Interactive 4-Step 3D Calibration Wizard

  • Step 0 — Stillness & Gravity Vector Acquisition: Captures static gravity vector while resting flat on the table and calculates zero-rate gyro drift bias.
  • Step 1 & 2 — Pitch and Roll Gesture Recognition: 60 Hz unconstrained motion capture with directional confidence gating. Automatically detects the principal movement axis regardless of whether the phone is held in portrait or landscape.
  • Step 3 — Orthogonal Matrix Verification: Constructs transformation matrix M with strict determinant validation (det(M) = +1), guaranteeing a pure 3D rotation without coordinate inversion, reflection, or axis skewing.
  • Multi-Slot Profile Engine: 4 independent configuration slots with persistent storage in %APPDATA%, live slot switching, and custom naming.
  • Interactive 3D Visualizer: Built-in Three.js preview rendered directly inside the calibration window with real-time feedback and responsive Apple Human Interface Guidelines styling.

2. Standalone 3D Live Debug Window

  • Dedicated Telemetry Viewport: Secondary viewport available as a native child window or served independently over HTTP/WebSocket (livedebug.html).
  • Tri-Camera System:
    • Static Mode: Locked orthographic front perspective for precise level verification.
    • Quad View Mode: Synchronized 2x2 multi-angle view (Front, Top, Right, Perspective) for holistic motion validation.
    • Dynamic Orbit Mode: Smooth Arcball camera controls with zoom and rotation.
  • Eco Rendering Mode: Pauses WebGL rendering loop when the window is minimized or out of focus, reducing GPU utilization to 0.0%.
  • 2D Bubble Reticle & Euler Readout: High-precision reticle indicator and live numerical Pitch / Roll / Yaw degree indicators with Dark/Light theme synchronization.

3. Jitter-Free Cemuhook DSU Motion Streaming

  • Resting Table Lock: When the device rests flat on the table, accelerometer output locks strictly to [0.0, -1.0, 0.0]g. This zeroes the error gradient in client-side AHRS filters (such as PadTest's Madgwick implementation), completely eliminating 60 Hz limit-cycle oscillation and wireframe jitter.
  • Soft-Knee Gyroscope Deadband (0.25 deg/s): Rejects ambient MEMS electrical/thermal noise in stationary state while employing a smooth continuous linear ramp on movement onset, eliminating snap artifacts and preserving micro-aiming precision.
  • Dynamic EMA Filtering: Exponential moving average low-pass filter (alpha = 0.20) suppresses high-frequency sensor noise during active motion without introducing noticeable latency.
  • DSU Protocol Compliance: Ingests 60-100 Hz sensor frames and maps them directly to standard Cemuhook DSU conventions (Port 26760), delivering plug-and-play compatibility with Cemu, Dolphin, Ryujinx, Yuzu forks, and PadTest.

4. Zero-Config Local Certificate Authority & Pairing

  • Built-in crypto/x509 CA: Generates a 10-year root certificate authority and automatic SAN leaf certificates for gamepad.local and LAN IP addresses.
  • Single-Tap Apple Configuration Profile: Generates .mobileconfig payload for frictionless iOS Safari root trust setup.
  • Dual Pairing QR Engine: Dynamic QR codes for zero-typing connection on both iOS and Android browsers.
  • Embedded Web Assets: UI, styles, icons, and client scripts embedded directly into the Go executable via //go:embed.
