Tabatha Desktop Companion 0.2.0 — Windows only

The optional desktop companion for the Tabatha browser extension. It watches which
application and window is in front while your browser is not, so time spent in
Figma, Excel, a terminal, or a call is accounted for instead of logged as idle.

This is the built artifact only. The companion source is a separate repository; only
the installer is hosted here. This release channel (desktop-v*) is distinct from the
extension update channel (ext-v*).

Platform

  • Windows 10/11, x64 only. The window monitor is bound to Win32 and the optional
capture engine draws through GDI — macOS and Linux are a port, not a build flag.

Privacy

  • Tracks metadata only by default: foreground app name + window title, timestamps,
durations. No keystrokes, no page/document content.
  • Ships an optional OS-level screen capture engine that is off by default. When
on, frames are redacted (fail-closed), written only to your own machine,
never uploaded, and auto-deleted (30 days, or 90 days while clocked in for an
    organization). See the extension's PRIVACY.md.

Known limitation

  • The companion exposes a local-only WebSocket on 127.0.0.1:9147 for the extension
bridge. It is loopback-bound (never reachable from the network) but does not yet
authenticate local callers — authentication hardening is in progress. Treat this as
    a trusted-single-user-machine build.

Not signed

  • The installer is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen will warn on first run
("More info → Run anyway"). Code signing is not yet configured.

Install

  • Download the installer below, run it, and the companion appears in your system tray.
  • Verify the download against the published SHA-256.
