CBScope 0.2.2 — callsign lookup, smoother map UX, self-learning
country map, and a bunch of voice polish.

What's new

Callsign lookup — magnifier in the Map toolbar (or "Look up call"
in the Logbook header, or just hit Enter in the Logbook search box).
Autocomplete draws from your worked callsigns; opens the full station
profile — QSO history, last-known grid, country, distance — even for
stations you've never worked.

Map & filter persistence — every screen now stays mounted across
tab switches, so filter toggles, map zoom + pan, and Logbook scroll
positions no longer reset when you leave and return. On first open
the Map auto-zooms to fit all logged QSOs. The NEW-CQ decode badge
also now shows the callsign inline.

Voice polish

  • Callsigns are read one character at a time (e.g. "5 6 P J 0 1 7")
    instead of pronounced as numbers.
  • "New grid" and "new country" announcements include the country name.
  • Live volume slider in Settings → Voice announcements with a
    drag-to-preview probe; broadcast-loudness normalisation on each
    utterance so 100 % is genuinely loud.
  • Running-QSO overlay colour switched to red so it stands out over the
    retro map palette.

CB prefix map self-learns — every QSO WSJT-CB writes to ADIF with
a country field teaches CBScope that mapping, so the "New country"
voice line stays right even when the hard-coded table has a gap.
Historical mistakes fixed: prefix 26 → England (was Turkey),
30 → Spain (was Serbia); a one-shot startup repair rewrites those two
in already-imported QSOs while leaving user- and ADIF-supplied
labels alone.

Running-QSO overlay stability — the 60 s post-73/RR73 hide window
now only applies to a completion with the current dxCall, so
finishing a QSO and immediately working someone else no longer
suppresses the new red line.

  • Greyline overlay, time-replay scrubber, retro / OSM tile styles

Review

  • Auto-imported QSOs land in a review queue with radio / antenna / notes
    / rating fields
  • Missing grid locators auto-fill from PSK Reporter and stay editable

Logbook & Stats

  • Searchable/filterable table with ADIF import + export, delete action
  • QSO/day chart, distance polar chart, per-equipment performance table

Voice

  • Bundled Alan voice (British male, Piper VITS) via a compact sherpa-onnx
    runtime, fully offline
  • Per-event toggles, thresholds, rate limit, and UTC quiet-hours all under
    Settings → Voice announcements

Install

macOS (11+)

  1. Download CBScope.dmg below.
  2. Open it and drag CBScope.app onto the Applications shortcut.

Linux (x86_64)

  1. Download CBScope-linux-x86_64.tar.gz below.

  2. Extract and launch:

    tar xzf CBScope-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
cd CBScope
./cbscope

Tested on Ubuntu 24.04. Runtime deps: libgtk-3-0, liblzma5,
libgstreamer1.0-0, libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-0 (all installed
by default on any Ubuntu / Debian / Fedora desktop).

Connect WSJT-CB (both platforms)

  1. In WSJT-CB → File → Settings → Reporting, enable UDP Server and
    point it at the address/port CBScope is listening on (defaults to
    127.0.0.1:2237). Bind address, port, and optional multicast group
    are all configurable under CBScope → Settings if you need
    something other than the defaults.
  2. Launch CBScope. First decodes appear on Live immediately; new QSOs
    land in Review.

Requirements

  • macOS: 11+ (Apple Silicon or Intel). ~230 MB installed, ~118 MB
    download (voice bundle inside the DMG).
  • Linux: any recent glibc distro with a GTK-based desktop. ~142 MB
    installed, ~87 MB download.

All data stored locally in SQLite — no account, no telemetry. Callsign
lookups (PSK Reporter) and propagation data (hamqsl.com) are opt-out
under Settings.
