WLEDtoy Graphs v1.0.0-rc2
Showcase graphs
WLEDtoy showcase graphs. Each is a .wledgraph file. Open one with File > Open (Ctrl/Cmd+O) or drop it on the window, pick a song, and it runs. They all work on a strip and on a matrix, and most expose a few knobs in the Parameters tab so you can tune them without touching the wiring.
These graphs only work in graph mode. They rely on envelopes, triggers, counters and integrators that remember things between frames, which shader mode cannot do.
spectral-aurora (52 nodes)
A spectrogram waterfall colored like an aurora. Frequency runs along the strip and history scrolls away from it, shaped by slow noise curtains that drift with the bass and take over in quiet parts. Hi-hats throw pink sparkle into the top of the spectrum.
Knobs: Bass Drift, Hat Sparkle, History Depth, Afterglow.
kick-shockwave (51 nodes)
Every kick bursts at the center and launches a ring that races outward and fades, each hit in a new hue, over a dark violet base. Snares flash an icy rim from the outer edge inward. When the kicks stop, the base swells and carries the breakdown.
Knobs: Ring Speed, Hue Scatter, Wake Decay.
chroma-keys (48 nodes)
Harmony becomes color. A circle-of-fifths pinwheel on a matrix, or a mirrored note lane on a strip, where only the notes that are sounding light up, each in its own hue. An oscilloscope trace sits on top and hi-hats glint inside the lit notes. Revised since rc1.
Knobs: Spin, Twist, Scope, Key Color.
bar-sequencer (58 nodes)
A tempo-locked club rig programmed like a drum machine. The beat clocks a bar counter and three step sequencers that choose block count, mirroring and rotation per bar. Kicks own the big blocks, snares flash cyan on alternating panels, hats add glitter. Flash rates are kept within photosensitivity guidelines.
Knobs: Afterglow (s), Palette Shift, Drop Rig Floor.
liquid-nebula (46 nodes)
A warped, liquid nebula where the music drives the physics instead of the brightness. Bass pushes the flow, kicks pulse the zoom and warp, and hi-hat and snare energy heats the palette from blue toward magenta and orange.
Knobs: Flow Speed, Warp Amount, Heat Bias, Trail Length (s).
peak-meteor (55 nodes)
A VU meter done properly. A mirrored, segmented level bar grows from the center with fast attack and slow release, a peak dot hangs and then falls under gravity, magenta meteors shoot outward on kicks, and ice sparkles appear on hi-hats. On a matrix it becomes a concentric ring meter.
Knobs: Bar Reach, Hue Shift, Tail Length.
high-contrast-music (18 nodes)
The small one. A spectrum-driven effect with hard, high-contrast blocks and no knobs. With 18 nodes it is the easiest graph to read if you want to see how an audio graph is wired before opening the big ones.
Notes
- Requires WLEDtoy 1.0.0-rc1 or later (graph format version 1).
- Levels are gain controlled, so the graphs adapt to quiet and loud tracks. Music with a clear kick shows kick-shockwave, bar-sequencer and peak-meteor at their best.
- bar-sequencer and kick-shockwave flash on beats. If you are sensitive to flashing light, start with liquid-nebula or spectral-aurora.
WLEDtoy v1.0.0-rc2
WLEDtoy v1.0.0-rc2
Second release candidate for 1.0.0. The main changes are a new preview, a fix for large graphs, and performance work across the graph compiler, audio analysis and document handling.
Preview
- LEDs view. For a device with a layout (matrix, ring or points), the Preview pane has a Render / LEDs switch. Render is the shader with the LEDs marked where they sample it. LEDs shows the device itself: every LED lit, with a glow, where the layout puts it. The pane remembers the choice.
- LED strip moved to the bottom of the window. It now spans the full width above the status bar and glows. It hides on its own when the active device is not a strip. View > LED Strip (Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+L) hides it for strip devices too.
- Preview height limit preference (Settings > General). Lower values shade fewer pixels in the 2D preview. The LED output is not affected.
Fixes
- Large graphs no longer abort the editor. A deep watch on the graph store recursed until Vue gave up. The editor now watches only the stored node and edge fields, and a link change re-renders only the nodes it touches.
- Status bar items stay on one line.
- The code editor's search panel follows the app theme.
Performance
- Compile, working copy, undo, dirty check and autosave share one snapshot per change. The working copy is written when a gesture pauses, and immediately on page hide and document load.
- Generated GLSL is smaller. Color Mix and Layer Mix call their one blend function directly, color conversion nodes include only the conversions they use, and unreferenced color helpers are gone.
- Step Sequencer parses its steps once instead of every frame.
- Faster FFT magnitudes in the audio analyzer.
Graphs
- Revised the chroma-keys showcase graph.
Builds
- Linux release runners install xdg-utils.
- Builds are still not code signed. macOS builds carry an ad-hoc signature only, so macOS and Windows will warn on first launch.
