blueprint 1.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@MustafaNatur MustafaNatur released this 10 Oct 05:28

What's new

  • Badges (#3). Add a text label to the blueprint to tell builds for different environments apart, such as DEV, BETA or RC. The badge sits in the bottom right corner in the last --color, so each environment can have its own colors. Long text wraps onto more lines. Works for both .icon (as a separate "Badge" layer) and .appiconset, in light, dark and tinted appearances. Thanks to @Nikoloutsos for the idea (#2).

    blueprint AppIcon.icon --badge DEV -o AppIconDev.icon
    blueprint AppIcon.icon --badge BETA --color "#FFB74D,#FB8C00,#E65100" -o AppIconBeta.icon

Fixed

  • .icon files set to specific platforms (#6). Icons targeting specific platforms in Icon Composer, instead of "shared", failed with a DecodingError. They now draw normally, and the blueprint keeps the same platforms as the original. Thanks to @swood09 for reporting it (#5).

Behind the scenes

  • Pull requests now run the test suite automatically.

What's new

  • Classic .appiconset support. Pass an asset catalog icon set as well as an Icon Composer .icon. blueprint separates the foreground from the background with Vision's subject lifting, outlines it, and saves AppIconDebug.appiconset next to the original.
  • Every slot kept. Dark and tinted variants, and every size of a macOS icon set, get the blueprint too.
  • Clearer errors for unsupported files, mismatched output formats, invalid colors, and icons with nothing in front of the background.

.icon blueprints are exactly the same as in 1.2.0.

What's new

  • Cleaner code. The code is reorganized to read top to bottom as a sequence of named steps.
  • No leftover files. A failed write no longer leaves a hidden temporary folder next to your icon.
  • No crashes on tiny images. Very small or undrawable layer images now give an error instead of crashing.
  • --grid and --open. New opposites of --no-grid and --no-open.

The blueprints it draws are exactly the same as in 1.1.0.

@MustafaNatur MustafaNatur released this 06 Oct 13:52

What's new

  • Clear layers in Icon Composer. Your layers keep their names, and the paper is its own "Blueprint Paper" group with separate Grid and Background layers.
  • Simpler look. A 4 × 4 grid with stronger lines, and no dashed guides.
  • Works in dark and tinted mode. The outlines no longer turn blue and disappear in dark mode.
  • Safer file names. A layer called "background" or "grid" no longer overwrites the paper, whatever the letter case. Thanks to @midaaaa (#1).
  • No blueprint of a blueprint. blueprint refuses an icon it drew itself.

The first release of blueprint: turn an Icon Composer icon into a blueprint version, in the style of Xcode's icon, to use for your debug builds.

Features

  • Redraws every layer of an .icon file as a white outline on blue graph paper, keeping each layer's position and size.
  • Saves <Name>Debug.icon in the current folder and opens it in Icon Composer.
  • Running it again replaces the blueprint it drew before, and never overwrites any other icon.
  • Options: --output, --color (one color or a top-to-bottom gradient), --line-width, --no-grid, --no-open.

Install

brew install mustafanatur/tap/blueprint

Requires macOS 14+ and Xcode 26+.
