What to test

Third attempt at a working beta. The update channel is now set via npm pkg set (electron-builder's CLI dotted-override form did not survive PowerShell on the Windows runner), and tagging happens only after the build and the feed check pass.

Please confirm:

1. It installs, and Settings → About shows this beta version.
2. Your stable install is never offered it — the guarantee the whole beta line rests on.
3. Settings → App → "Which builds to update to" exists and defaults to Match this build.

Same app code as stable v3.8.0, so it's fine to stream on: the cast should now only reply out loud when you name a ghost or answer a question one just asked.

Notes

• Installs over your existing app and keeps your settings and memory — the data folder is untouched.
• People on the stable build will never be offered this one: it publishes beta.yml, and a stable install only reads latest.yml.
• This build auto-updates to newer betas, and will not return to stable on its own — a stable release publishes only to the stable feed, so this install never sees it. To come back: Settings → App → Which builds to update to → Stable only, then relaunch (or just install the latest normal release from the releases page over the top).

Pipeline verification build. Same code as stable v3.8.0 — this exists to prove the beta machinery works before we rely on it, not to test new features.

Please confirm three things:

1. It installs, and Settings → About shows 3.8.1-beta.1 (tag → version stamping works with a prerelease suffix).
2. Your stable install is never offered this build. This is the guarantee the whole beta line rests on — a stable install reads latest.yml, this publishes beta.yml.
3. Settings → App → "Which builds to update to" exists and defaults to Match this build.
