Lyrica is now Lyrique

New name and a new icon, same app. Everything you know is where it was.

Also in 0.6.0

  • Playback buttons in the window: previous, play/pause and next at the bottom. Move the mouse and they appear.
  • A tidier top bar, with the rarely used buttons moved into Settings.
  • A fix for an error that could appear when quitting.
  • New website at lyrique.app, with a 45-second how-to video.
  • Lyrique is now open source: github.com/Myo-Myint/lyrique.

Download

  • Lyrique-0.6.0-arm64.dmg: Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later)
  • Lyrique-0.6.0-x64.dmg: Intel Macs

@Myo-Myint Myo-Myint released this 19 Oct 23:15

Lyrique 0.6.0 for Windows (beta)

Lyrica is now Lyrique: new name and icon, same app. Installing this over the Lyrica beta upgrades it in place and keeps your settings.

  • Playback buttons in the window, a tidier top bar, and a fix for an error when quitting.
  • Follows Spotify and Apple Music through Windows' own media controls; YouTube Music works with the Lyrique Bridge browser extension.

Download

  • Lyrique-0.6.0-x64.exe: almost every Windows PC (Intel or AMD)
  • Lyrique-0.6.0-arm64.exe: Windows on Arm (Snapdragon laptops, Surface Pro X)

It installs just for you, no admin rights needed. The beta isn't code-signed yet: if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway.

@Myo-Myint Myo-Myint released this 19 Oct 12:34

New

  • Playback buttons in the window. Previous, play/pause and next sit at the bottom of the window and appear when you move the mouse. Until now they were only in full screen.
  • A tidier top bar. It's down to what you reach for while listening: timing − / +, choose lyrics ↻, Settings and full screen. Second line (T), the mini bar (M) and keep-on-top are still in Settings and the menu-bar menu.

Fixed

  • A crash that could appear while quitting Lyrica with the YouTube Music extension connected.

Download

  • Lyrica-0.5.1-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later)
  • Lyrica-0.5.1-x64.dmg for Intel Macs

Not notarized yet: on first launch, open it once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

On Windows? Try the Windows beta.

Lyrica 0.5.1 for Windows (beta)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Myo-Myint Myo-Myint released this 19 Oct 11:56

Lyrica for Windows: first beta. The same app as on the Mac: time-synced, word-by-word lyrics for Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music, in a window, a mini bar, or full screen.

Download

  • Lyrica-0.5.1-x64.exe: almost every Windows PC (Intel or AMD).
  • Lyrica-0.5.1-arm64.exe: Windows on Arm (Snapdragon laptops, Surface Pro X and similar).

Windows 10 or 11. Installs just for you, with no admin rights needed. Uninstall from Settings → Apps.

First launch

This beta isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info → Run anyway. Your browser may also ask you to confirm the download with Keep.

What works

  • Spotify and Apple Music are followed by themselves through Windows' own media controls. Nothing to set up.
  • YouTube Music works with the Lyrica Bridge extension in Chrome, Edge or Brave. The Setup Guide inside Lyrica walks you through it.
  • Lyrics, word-by-word highlighting, translation and romanization, the mini bar, karaoke, sharing, and tap-to-sync all work as on the Mac.
  • The notification-area icon has the menu. Ctrl+, opens Settings, and ? lists every shortcut.

Also new (coming to the Mac in the next release)

  • Previous / play / next controls at the bottom of the window, not only in full screen.
  • A tidier top bar: second line, mini bar and keep-on-top now live in Settings and on keys (T, M).

Beta notes

Lyrica doesn't update itself yet: check back here for new versions. Found a problem? Use Settings → Report a problem, or open an issue.

@Myo-Myint Myo-Myint released this 18 Oct 19:45

New in 0.5.0

  • Lyrica speaks your language: menus, Settings and messages in English, Español, Français, Português, မြန်မာ, ไทย, 日本語, 한국어, 简体中文 and 繁體中文. It follows your Mac's language, or choose one in Settings → Language.
  • What's new, after every update: a short card shows what's been added, with a button to try each feature on the spot. Reopen it any time from the menu bar → What's New…
  • Shortcuts on any keyboard: K, M, T and the other single-key shortcuts now work with Thai, Korean, Burmese and other keyboard layouts too.
  • Clearer pop-ups: Settings, What's New and other cards now sit on a solid background, so the lyrics behind never get in the way.
  • Karaoke text sized to fit typical TV screens better.

Translations are new: if something reads oddly in your language, please tell us.

Download

  • Apple Silicon (M1 and later): Lyrica-0.5.0-arm64.dmg
  • Intel: Lyrica-0.5.0-x64.dmg

First launch: macOS asks you to confirm the app once (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway), because it isn't notarized yet. See the install guide.

@Myo-Myint Myo-Myint released this 18 Oct 18:58

New in 0.4.4

  • Karaoke mode: press K (or menu-bar icon → Karaoke Mode) for full screen with nothing but the lyrics, extra large and centred, with the song's name shown for a few seconds as each song starts. K or Esc to leave.
  • Duets: when the lyrics mark who sings, the second singer's lines sit on the right and lines sung together in the middle.
  • Reduce motion: a still background, and lines that fade into place instead of sliding. On automatically with macOS Reduce Motion, or in Settings.
  • Apple Music: the next song's lyrics load while the current one plays, so they appear the moment it changes (not while shuffling).
  • Fixed: on a very large window, unsynced lyrics no longer run under the now-playing card.

Download

  • Apple Silicon (M1 and later): Lyrica-0.4.4-arm64.dmg
  • Intel: Lyrica-0.4.4-x64.dmg

Lyrica 0.4.3

@Myo-Myint Myo-Myint released this 18 Oct 16:50

New in 0.4.3

  • Easier on the battery: when the Lyrica window is minimized or hidden it stops animating completely (CPU drops from about 5% to under 0.5%). The menu-bar lyrics and mini bar keep running, and the lyrics jump straight to the right line when you bring the window back.
  • Better bug reports: Lyrica keeps a small local log of problems (failed lookups, player errors, crashes) at ~/Library/Logs/Lyrica/lyrica.log, and Copy Diagnostics now includes the last few. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you paste it yourself.

Download

  • Apple Silicon (M1 and later): Lyrica-0.4.3-arm64.dmg
  • Intel: Lyrica-0.4.3-x64.dmg

First launch: macOS asks you to confirm the app once (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway), because it isn't notarized yet. See the install guide.

  • Keyboard shortcuts at a glance: press ?, click the ? button at the bottom right, or use Keyboard Shortcuts… in the menu bar.
  • Clearer Setup Guide: Spotify and Apple Music need nothing installed; the browser extension is only for YouTube Music.
  • Space always plays and pauses, even right after clicking a button.

  • Spotify and Apple Music, no extension needed: play a song in either app and the lyrics appear. The first time, macOS asks to let Lyrica see Spotify or Music — click Allow. With several players open, Lyrica follows the one that started playing most recently; play/pause, ±10 s and skip control that app. Choose which apps to follow from the menu-bar icon → Follow.
  • Wrong lyrics? Pick another: click ↻ in the top bar (or the source name at the bottom) to see every match from YouTube Music, LRCLIB and QQ Music, with sync type, length difference and opening lines. Your pick is remembered for the song.
  • Lyrics in the menu bar: the line being sung, next to the Lyrica icon (menu-bar icon → Lyrics in Menu Bar).
  • Covers for songs streamed from Apple Music, and better matching for titles like "Song - Remastered 2009".
