@NJH-1001 NJH-1001 released this 23 Oct 03:10

Wipeout2K97XL v0.2.0 - Smooth rendering

Optional Smooth rendering adds 60, 90 and 120 fps choices under Mods >
Visual > Render frame rate
, including the main menu's 3D previews. It renders
intermediate polygon positions while preserving the original simulation,
steering, physics, timers and audio cadence. OpenGL is required. The feature
is off by default. HUD and effects retain their original update rate.

This update also corrects shared-vertex fallback that could separate road
polygons, retains polygons that enter view in an intermediate frame, and
refreshes cached menu backgrounds to prevent preview trails.

Interpolation adds visual delay. Higher rates require additional GPU work and
a suitable display. Physical input-to-photon latency and exhaustive track,
camera and effect coverage remain unverified. The owner accepted the Windows
racing appearance; native gameplay verification does not transfer to this build.

@NJH-1001 NJH-1001 released this 20 Oct 01:25

Wipeout2K97XL v0.1.1 — Optional widescreen HUD layout

Steam Deck tested: the project owner has tested the Linux x64 build on
Steam Deck and confirms that it works well. Use the Linux x64 ZIP.
Dedicated Steam Deck AppImages have been withdrawn following setup/play failures.

The 16:9 mod now includes Race HUD layout → Widescreen edges:

  • Checkpoint timer at the top left.
  • Position and lap at the top right.
  • Speed, thrust, energy and music crawl at the bottom right.
  • Lap-times heading, lap numbers and times at the bottom left.

The original centered HUD remains the default. Change the dropdown under
Mods → 16:9 Widescreen, then launch the game. HUD size and game simulation
are unchanged. Menus, pause text and the central weapon display stay centered.
The layout was tested with OpenBIOS on Windows and approved by the owner.

2026-10-19 maintenance refresh

  • Extended Draw Distance and Extended Enemy Ship Distance are regular optional
    features following the owner's race testing. The launcher labels and descriptions
    no longer call them experiments. Saved feature identifiers and behavior are unchanged.
  • Linux and both Mac builds are now alongside Windows, with their existing
    gameplay unverified status retained.
  • Every kit includes current instructions, the final controller diagram and the
    dependency review.
  • Build workflows use current official GitHub actions pinned to immutable commits.

This is a documentation and declarative-catalog refresh of the audited kits.
Runtime binaries, emitters, firmware and game/plugin sources remain unchanged.
Checksums therefore differ from the earlier ZIPs. No runtime upgrade is implied.

Linux and macOS experimental previews — gameplay unverified

Choose a tag to compare

@NJH-1001 NJH-1001 released this 08 Sep 19:12

The Linux/macOS kits are now included alongside Windows on the main v0.1.0 release page. Native gameplay remains unverified.

Linux and macOS experimental previews — gameplay unverified

Native Linux x64, macOS Intel x64 and macOS Apple Silicon arm64 setup kits for
Wipeout XL USA SCUS-94351. Each player supplies their own legally obtained disc;
no disc, retail BIOS, generated game code, memory cards or captures are included.

The same configurable NeGcon enhanced dual sticks and display mods are included.
See the controller diagram.

Verification limit: native build, dependency, emitter-startup and extracted
launcher-window checks pass in CI. Local game generation/rebuild, OpenBIOS
gameplay, controller hardware and rendering mods have not been verified on
Linux/macOS. These are experimental previews published with the project owner’s approval. The Windows release remains the gameplay-tested version.

Build provenance: native CI run 34263238594,
source 49c024a373e7bee20aa32df5caf60b1d9b8a3511. The downloadable previews
retain those binaries unchanged; updated documentation and the user-provided
controller diagram are added after CI. Each ZIP has a SHA-256 checksum.

See native platform instructions and verification gates.

Linux/macOS downloads are now also available on the main v0.1.0 release page, alongside Windows. Extended draw distance is a regular optional feature; native gameplay verification remains open.
