Release list
Kiln 0.1.3
Download Kiln-0.1.3.dmg below, open it and drag Kiln to Applications. The first time, right-click Kiln and choose Open. Requires macOS 14 or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon.
What's new
- Supercell games' login and menus. In Clash Royale and other Supercell games, the Supercell ID login showed an empty panel and the game drew its arena without its buttons, text and cards. They now show. Other apps whose screens are drawn the same way are fixed too.
- The Android system is the same as in 0.1.2: instances need no update.
More mapping options are coming in the next releases: repeated taps, MOBA skills, zoom and scroll, and game controllers mapped to touches for games without controller support.
Updating from an earlier version
Quit your instances before replacing Kiln in Applications. Coming from 0.1.2, the Android system is the same and instances need no update; from an earlier version, they show Update in the launcher, and their apps and data are kept.
See the README for the full documentation, and SHA256SUMS.txt to verify the download.
If Kiln is useful to you, you can support it on Ko-fi.
Kiln 0.1.2
Download Kiln-0.1.2.dmg below, open it and drag Kiln to Applications. The first time, right-click Kiln and choose Open. Requires macOS 14 or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon.
What's new
- A new look. The launcher shows each instance with its phone, status and a Start button at the top; settings that wait for the next start say so while Android runs. Phone models are chosen from a grid, and the whole app uses Kiln's green.
- A toolbar that fits. In a phone held upright, the window keeps Back, Home and Recents, Rotate, Key Mapping and Install APK, with the instance's name between them, and the rest under More. A window opens large enough to use, also when it was left small.
- Screenshot in the toolbar saves the screen to the Desktop.
- Anti-aliasing in games. Games that use it, such as PUBG Mobile at HD quality, draw their foliage and edges correctly.
- A new Android build. Instances show Update in the launcher, and their apps and data are kept.

Updating from an earlier version
Quit your instances before replacing Kiln in Applications. They then show Update in the launcher, and their apps and data are kept. The first time a game opens after the update, it may take longer to load once.

Kiln 0.1.1
Download Kiln-0.1.1.dmg below, open it and drag Kiln to Applications. The first time, right-click Kiln and choose Open. Requires macOS 14 or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon.
What's new
- Gyroscope aiming. Add Gyroscope to a game's mapping and the mouse turns the phone, for games that aim by tilting it. Sensitivity is adjustable and either axis can be inverted. Gravity and the compass turn with it, so the game sees a phone that really moves, in portrait and in landscape.
- Aim while holding (optional): the gyroscope works only while a key or mouse button is held, and the mouse camera can stay in the same mapping.
- Free pointer (optional): a key that lets go of the mouse pointer while a mapping is on, so you can click the game's menus. A modifier such as ⌥ frees it while held, as Alt does in games on a PC.
- Sharing mappings: Export… saves a game's mapping as a
.kilnkeysfile, and Import… opens one in the editor to review before saving. - GPS routes: Location > Import Coordinates… in the player takes a GPX file or a text file with one
latitude, longitudeper line (with optional seconds to stay). The GPS goes through the places at walking, bicycle, car or highway speed, or at the file's own times; apps also get the speed and direction. Pause, repeat and stop are in the same menu. - Move… in the launcher keeps an instance in another folder or disk. For safety, Kiln opens only its own instances: an instance folder copied in from elsewhere is refused.
- Security fixes in the graphics renderer.
- The player's toolbar no longer stays hidden after a window was closed in full screen.
- A new Android build. Instances show Update in the launcher, and their apps and data are kept.

Kiln 0.1.0
Download Kiln-0.1.0.dmg below, open it and drag Kiln to Applications. The first time, right-click Kiln and choose Open. Requires macOS 14 or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon.
What's new
This is Kiln's first stable release.
- OpenGL ES games run more smoothly and load faster. In our tests, Genshin Impact in the city of Liyue went from
48 to 59 fps, with almost no stutter. - The screen's refresh rate follows what is shown. A still screen drops to 10 Hz until you touch it or something
moves, and a game at 60 fps gets a 60 Hz screen. The rate set for the instance is now its maximum. - Games that keep their compiled shaders start faster.
- With Keep Running, a closed instance stays in the Dock, and clicking it brings the window back. The launcher's
window also reopens from the Dock. - After two hours of use, Kiln asks once whether you would like to support the project. You can choose Remind Me
Later or Don't Show Again. - A new Android build. Instances show Update in the launcher, and their apps and data are kept.
