Similar forum for GFS/GEFS questions? #55

Because this forum is for regional models (HRRR, etc.), I'm assuming it isn't the right place for questions about GFS or GEFS. Does anyone know of a similar forum for those models? For example, I'm seeing occasional negative DSWRF in GEFS after "unmixing" the rolling accumulated values, which doesn't make physical sense. The values are on the order of -10 Wm-2, so not large, and I'm leaning towards thinking it is a rounding/precision artifact, but it would be nice to get some confirmation to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. |

@williamhobbs it sounds like there is not such a forum for GFS / GEFS questions. However, I reached out to some colleagues at the National Weather Service and they recommended that you send an email to gfs.feedback (at) noaa.gov. They may be able to help you. |

To provide some closure/follow up, in case anyone comes across this post and is interested in the GEFS DSWRF (solar irradiance) issue: I got a response from the feedback email, and the NCEP EMC team I talked with said that it looks like this is a real issue cause by GEFS precision. They are looking at a possible fix.
