We are planning to move PhysX from the BSD 3-Clause license to the Apache License 2.0, ideally starting with the next release.
This change will align PhysX licensing with our other open-source simulation projects, such as Newton and PhysicsNeMo. One benefit of Apache 2.0 over BSD 3-Clause is that it includes explicit provisions regarding patent licensing, providing additional clarity and protection for users and contributors.
We do not expect this change to negatively affect existing users. However, if anyone in the PhysX community has concerns about the planned license change or believes it may affect their use of PhysX, please comment here or otherwise get in touch with us.
This change will apply to the entire repository except for the Blast library, for which no updates are currently planned.
