Announcements

A tenant-scoped announcements collection that can be used to display announcements in AvyWeb. The display of the announcement in the UI could be controlled by a type dropdown like (banner, pop up, toast). Announcements can have a start date and an end date. We could optionally add a setting in the website settings to control how many announcements can be displayed at one time or only display a single announcement of each type at one time.

Announcements can have a rich text field with a limited subset of blocks. We likely want to include blocks like sponsors and media.

NWAC uses Unbounce now. Not sure if we should continue to use a product like that or if there's something easy and relatively OOTB from Payload. Unbounce is very easy for staff to manage

Unbounce seems like a CMS itself? I think what I would suggest is a Campaign collection type in Payload and we can choose how to expose it - is it a modal/pop-up (often seen as the worst UX there is) or can we integrate it into the views - like we did with the campaigns showing up between obs cards in Avy, etc.

How are they using it right now? Are they building landing pages or are they just using it for email marketing for existing contacts they have?

We might not need to build anything specific to Unbounce. If we have an embed block we can let center admins embed their lead generation forms in a banner, a pop up, inline on a page, or in the sidebar of a blog post. These email marketing platforms usually let you build a form and then provide you an embed script.

Do we need some sort of suppression functionality? Only show 1x, etc.

Could provide this as an option and then use a cookie or localStorage to keep track of if a user has seen this specific pop up using the id of the pop up in Payload.

• For Spring Fund Drive, we have a pop-up on the homepage that shows up every time the person visits the website (for 7-10 days total at end of April)
• For Year End Campaign (all of December), we have a pop-up on the homepage that shows up every 3ish times the person visits the homepage and then we ramp it up to once per homepage visit for the last 5-10 days of December
• We sometimes do pop-ups on the homepage to advertise signing up for the backcountry bulletin, signing up for awareness classes, etc
• Ad for Avy when user accesses nwac.us on mobile

Thanks that's helpful background on how they're using pop ups right now. Especially the requirement that some pop ups should only appear on certain device types/screen sizes since we'll need to include that in our pop up/announcement solution.

I was wondering more about how they use Unbounce right now though. The pop ups must be a feature of their Wordpress site, right? And then they're embedding Unbounce forms in the pop ups for the first three examples you mentioned where they want to collect user data (i.e. email).

Or is Unbounce also responsible for rendering the pop up? Maybe more of a technical question.

There's no forms on any of the pop ups. They purely use Unbounce to easily create the pop up and display it on the site then redirect somewhere on a click.

Oh so they don't even use Unbounce for email marketing campaigns? If they're only using Unbounce for popups we could do away with Unbounce completely and manage that in our CMS.

This is another use case for a short-lived "alert" and they're using a toast/modal to do this now. Can we use this issue to track the work around short-lived news/alerts?
