Spectre 0.2 Changelog
Our 0.2 version is finally here! Sorry for taking a while, this update rewrote a lot of things from the 0.1 version and made the design look more like our final concepts.
Warning
Keep in mind, Spectre is still in a really early stage, this builds do not represent our vision of a final product, expect UI inconsistencies, bugs and crashes. In that case we would appreciate if you could open an issue on our bugs channel or directly on GitHub.
All
- Added native support for Linux and Windows.
- Spectre used ES-DE emulators files as a base to get every platform and emulator available on PC, however we can't check every emulator by hand, so if an emulator is missing/doesn't boot/boots incorrectly, please open an Issue.
- Added a First Time Setup when booting for the first time.
- This allows you to setup your ROMs file and scan your library before going to the home menu.
- Added functionality to download the platform files directly from Github.
- To detect your library/supported platforms/ROMs we need this platform files, this change allows us to patch some emulators launching weirdly or not launching at all without the need of you having to re-download another version of Spectre.
- Added a cursor to highlight the currently selected item.
- Added sound effects to most UI interactions.
- Added animations to most UI elements.
- We animated things like the Grid showing/hiding, games loading, etc.
Home Menu
- The background now adapts to the currently selected game.
- Added dragging and dropping inside the grid.

- To add items to a folder, drag and drop a game into the folder icon!
- You can drag and drop a game outside a folder to make it go back to the main grid.
- Deleting a folder will make your games go back intro the main grid to avoid losing them.
- Added context menus for some UI actions.
- This includes creating a folder and deleting it, more actions (like edit data of games and folders) will be added in a future release.
- Improved the navigation on the grid to be more consistent.

- To download the Metadata file, you can use the button added on the Scraping page.
- The downloaded file contains all of the metadata possible on the database, and all of the links for game images.
- Only game images are downloaded when scraping, metadata will always be fetched offline, making it faster than other scrapers.
- It is recommended that you update the Metadata file every time you want to scrape your games.
