Clipped 0.1.2
New feature release introducing persistent Pinned Items, natural chronological indexing, smart Row 2 viewport anchoring, and strict FIFO trimming immunity.
What's New
Pinned Clipboard Items
- Interactive Pin Button: Pin or unpin any copied text, image, or file using the pin icon on the right side of each row.
- Visual Micro-interactions: Features a smooth 45° spring animation, subtle hover glow, and native macOS tooltip.
- Accidental Paste Prevention: Pin toggling is isolated from row double-clicks, so you can pin and unpin items without triggering accidental paste events.
Natural Chronological Indexing
- Pinned items are organized chronologically (
pinned_at ASC). When you pin an item, it appends naturally at the bottom of your pinned section (immediately above unpinned history) rather than jumping unpredictably over older pinned entries.
Smart Row 2 Viewport Anchoring
- Zero Muscle-Memory Disruption: Launching Clipped always places the selection pointer on your latest copy, ready to paste instantly with
Enter. - Consistent Visual Alignment: When pinned items exist, the viewport anchors the preceding pinned item to Row 1 (
anchor: .top), placing your newest copy consistently at Row 2 (highlighted) whether it is pinned or unpinned! - Effortless Navigation: Earlier pinned items sit right above the top of the window, accessible anytime with
↑ Up Arrow.
FIFO Trimming Protection
- Pinned items are fully immune to automatic FIFO history cleanup. You can keep frequently used snippets, templates, and reference assets indefinitely without them counting against or getting culled by the text, image, or file limits.
Non-Destructive Database Migration
- Automatic SQLite migration adds
is_pinnedandpinned_atcolumns seamlessly on launch without affecting existing clipboard history.

Clipped 0.1.1
Performance optimization release reducing active memory consumption by ~85% and eliminating image paste latency.
Performance Improvements
- Optimized Image Decoding: Downsample image thumbnails on decode via Apple's native
ImageIOframework, reducing thumbnail memory usage from 25–50 MB down to ~150 KB per image. Steady-state application RAM dropped from 200–450 MB down to ~45–70 MB. - Instantaneous Image Paste: Eliminated main-thread CPU software PNG re-compression during paste restoration by reading compressed PNG bytes directly from disk. Image paste delay dropped from 20–50 ms to < 1 ms.
- Direct Clipboard Ingestion: Avoid redundant PNG-to-TIFF transcoding on screenshot capture by writing raw clipboard PNG data directly to disk.
- Autorelease Pool Management: Added explicit autorelease pool drainage during background polling to guarantee immediate memory reclamation.

Enter. - Persistent Storage: Utilizes local SQLite persistence to preserve history across system reboots.
- Automated History Pruning: Built-in FIFO manager limits history capacity to 100 text items and 20 image items to optimize memory and disk space.
- Native Implementation: Developed purely using standard SwiftUI and AppKit/Carbon frameworks with zero third-party library dependencies.
Installation
- Download Clipped.dmg from the Assets list below.
- Open the downloaded DMG container file.
- Drag Clipped.app into your Applications folder.
