Shelfmark — first release

Shelfmark manages metadata for a local ebook collection. Scan a folder, find matching catalog records, edit metadata, and review changes before saving them to your books.

Features

  • Support for EPUB, FB2, CBZ, and PDF.
  • Catalog searches using ISBNs, titles, authors, and cleaned filenames.
  • Ranked matches and field-by-field metadata suggestions.
  • Separate title, series, and volume metadata.
  • Persistent drafts: review and select changes before writing to files.
  • Background matching and cached search results.
  • Bundled Tesseract OCR with English and French language models.
  • A web interface available in a desktop window or browser.

Shelfmark starts its HTTP server first, then opens a desktop window when the environment supports it. If the window cannot start, the web interface remains available at http://127.0.0.1:8766.

Downloads

  • Windows x64: shelfmark-windows-amd64.exe
  • Linux x64: shelfmark-linux-amd64
  • Docker, Linux x64: shelfmark-docker-linux-amd64.tar.gz

Desktop executables include their GUI runtime and OCR dependencies. No Go installation or Calibre is required.

Place the executable in a writable folder. On Windows, launch the .exe. On Linux:

chmod +x shelfmark-linux-amd64
./shelfmark-linux-amd64

The Linux desktop build requires glibc 2.36 or newer and an available X11 or Wayland display. Windows desktop mode requires acceptance of the bundled Microsoft WebView2 runtime terms on first launch.

To import the Docker image:

docker load --input shelfmark-docker-linux-amd64.tar.gz

See the README for container configuration, runtime requirements, and build instructions.

Notes

This is an early release. Catalog records can contain incomplete or incorrect metadata; review proposed changes before saving, and keep backups of your books.

Shelfmark is licensed under MIT. Dependency notices, corresponding source bundles, and SHA-256 checksums are included in the release assets. Bundled dependencies retain their respective licenses.
