Changelog - v1.38.0

🎉 New Features

Artifact Mode: Create Finished Documents Beside Your Project

TensorPM now includes a document workspace directly in Pulse. Create structured documents without
leaving the project, keep the source material and project context beside the page, and move between
the Project Agent, Distiller and document work in one place.

Artifact Mode supports:

  • Rich text with headings, lists, quotes, links, colors, fonts, spacing and alignment
  • Tables whose column widths can be adjusted directly on the page
  • Images, Mermaid diagrams and page-fixed text boxes
  • Editable headers and footers, including page numbers and first-page variants
  • Portrait and landscape page formats with live pagination
  • Search and replace across the document
  • Undo and redo for both human and AI changes

The page always fits the available workspace, while a full-width view provides more room for focused
document work.

A Dedicated AI Document Agent

Every artifact has its own TensorPM conversation. The document agent can read the current document,
search it, insert or update content, transform multiple blocks and work with page furniture and text
boxes. It uses the same familiar chat experience as the Project Agent, but its tools are restricted to
the open document.

AI changes appear live on the page. Changed, inserted and deleted content remains traceable by turn,
with explicit Keep all and Undo all actions. Block-level locks prevent a person and the agent
from silently overwriting each other.

Export to Word, PDF and Markdown

Artifacts can be exported as:

  • Word (.docx) with document styles, page geometry, tables, images, diagrams, headers, footers
    and positioned text boxes
  • PDF using the same rendered document surface and page furniture shown in TensorPM
  • Markdown with self-contained local assets

Exports use deterministic filenames and atomic writes so an existing unrelated file is never silently
overwritten.

Better Diagram Layout

Diagrams can now use an explicit width and left, center or right alignment. When no width is set, they
fill the available text column—including landscape pages. Captions stay associated with their diagram
in Word exports, and invalid diagrams remain visible with their original source instead of disappearing.

🐛 Bug Fixes

Pending Document Edits Are Preserved

Switching from Artifact Mode to the Distiller, closing a document, navigating to another artifact, or
using undo and redo now flushes pending text first. Even an edit made inside the final debounce window
survives the transition.

Safer Concurrent Editing

Artifact updates are now revision-aware from read through write. Stale AI reads, delayed window
messages and old background callbacks can no longer authorize changes against a newer document or a
different artifact.

Table identities and widths survive editor round trips without phantom updates. Multiple inserts keep
their intended order, and foreign window broadcasts no longer release unsent local edits.

More Reliable Document Rendering and Export

  • Headers and footers survive loading, editing and export.
  • Large documents and oversized tables stay within bounded AI read results without producing broken
    JSON or losing continuation information.
  • Unicode-aware search and replace preserves the correct source offsets.
  • Missing image assets retain their reserved page space and show a clear placeholder.
  • PDF extraction loads its worker, character maps, standard fonts and WASM assets correctly from the
    packaged application.
  • Word exports use the selected document font and preserve table, list, image and section metadata.

Improved App and Agent Reliability

  • Artifact conversations restore their local history without leaking document-only messages into the
    normal project chat.
  • Agent stop, steering and restart behavior is consistent with the main chat.
  • Browser-agent startup and shutdown handle slow compatibility probes and child-process cleanup more
    reliably.
  • Local Codex and Claude Code integrations use validated CLI arguments across supported versions.
  • Automated Electron release tests no longer pull TensorPM in front of the application currently being
    used on macOS.

🏗️ Improvements

  • Artifact data is stored atomically inside the project and flushed during normal application shutdown.
  • Document repairs preserve unknown content and create recoverable backups instead of silently dropping
    unsupported data.
  • AI read budgets now favor useful first responses while retaining precise continuation controls for
    very large documents.
  • Document chat remains local to the artifact; it is not written into cloud-synced project chat history.
  • Dependency updates include Electron, TipTap, Mermaid, AI provider SDKs and supporting build tools.

📝 Notes

  • Artifact files and their document-agent conversation remain local to the project in this release.
  • PowerPoint is not part of Artifact Mode export; TensorPM's existing presentation authoring tools remain
    available separately.
