This release focuses on reliability improvements for production installs (systemd timer), and safer execution on multi-machine fleets.

Highlights

  • No more double jitter when installed via systemd

    • The timer uses RandomizedDelaySec.
    • The service runs the script with --max-random-delay-seconds 0.
  • Concurrency protection

    • Uses flock (if available) to prevent parallel runs and avoid APT/dpkg lock conflicts.
  • More reliable GitHub requests

    • Adds an explicit User-Agent header for GitHub API calls and raw downloads.
  • Safer input handling

    • Validates numeric flags (--delay-days, --max-random-delay-seconds, --log-retention-days) before running.

Upgrade notes

  • If you installed systemd units previously, re-run:
    sudo ./netbird-delayed-update-linux.sh --install
to update the installed service unit (and remove the double random delay).
