This release focuses on safety and reliability for unattended updates.

🌟 Highlights

  • 🔒 Added a concurrency lock to prevent overlapping runs (launchd + manual execution).
  • ♻️ Added stale-lock recovery (TTL = --max-random-delay-seconds): if a lock is left behind after a crash/kill, it is automatically removed on the next run only when the stored PID is not running and the lock is older than the TTL.
  • 🌐 Improved networking robustness with curl timeouts/retries for upstream checks and downloads.
  • 🧮 Hardened version parsing/comparison (including leading zeros) and made the delay-age calculation jitter-safe.
  • 🧾 Improved log handling (launchd.log size cap + log retention).
  • 🔁 Enabled best-effort script self-update (tries git pull --ff-only, otherwise downloads the tagged raw script and replaces itself; failures are logged and the run continues).
  • 🛡️ Safety fix: --uninstall now removes only this script’s LaunchDaemon by default and does not touch NetBird unless explicitly requested via --remove-netbird-auto-start.
