This release focuses on reliability and compatibility improvements, especially around scheduled execution, GitHub API calls, and GUI installer handling.

Highlights

  • More reliable GitHub API calls

    • Enforces TLS 1.2 where needed.
    • Adds explicit User-Agent and Accept headers.
  • More predictable Scheduled Task execution

    • Task now starts PowerShell with -NoProfile.
    • Fixes -DailyTime handling for task creation (ScheduledTasks expects a DateTime for -At).
  • Improved compatibility

    • Removes legacy -UseBasicParsing usage that can break on newer PowerShell versions.
  • Safer GUI installer updates

    • Validates installer exit code and avoids updating GUI state if installation fails.
  • More robust timestamp parsing and service handling

    • Strict ISO 8601 parsing for stored timestamps.
    • Better service restart logic with automatic service name detection.

Upgrade notes

No configuration changes are required. If you install the task using -Install, re-run -Install to update the scheduled task command line so it uses the updated script and flags.
