TV en Gids is now a flat, instantly playable channel list: the six linear Videoland channels (RTL 4, RTL 5, TELEKIDS, RTL 7, RTL 8 and RTL Z) render as single entries, and pressing Enter starts the live stream right away.

Highlights

• Instant live playback — no folders, no extra navigation; each channel opens its live Widevine DASH stream directly and starts within seconds.
• EPG in every channel — each channel's description shows the programme currently airing (Nu:) and the one next (Vervolgens:) with their broadcast times, so you always know what's on before you click.
• Widevine live streams — live playback uses Videoland's direct DRMtoday DASH source with fresh licence tokens fetched from the live upfront-token endpoint. FairPlay-only HLS assets are never selected.
• No history for live — live channels carry no watched status or resume progress, and live playback writes nothing to Kodi's history or Videoland cloud.
• Legacy Live TV / EPG-grid shortcuts now open the same flat channel zapper instead of the on-site layout page.

Install or upgrade

Download plugin.video.videoland.nl-1.2.1.zip below and install it through Kodi's Add-ons → Install from zip file. Use this asset rather than GitHub's source archives. The ZIP has the same packaging structure as previous releases (addon folder at root), so it overwrites in place and keeps your saved login, profiles and settings.

Validation

107 automated tests pass. Python syntax and ZIP integrity checks pass; the archive's file set matches the v1.2.0 release exactly (76 files). Channel zapping, EPG display, instant playback and the no-history behaviour were exercised live on a LibreELEC box.

Highlights

• Reliable cloud resume with explicit Resume, Start from beginning and Cancel choices. Back/Escape cancels without starting playback or saving zero progress.
• Cloud progress updates after seeks, pauses, stops and completion, with background retries for failed saves and optional notifications.
• Local-only history mode using Kodi's native resume and watched controls; cloud bookmarks, saves and retries are disabled in this mode.
• Clear English and Dutch playback-history settings, dependent cloud controls and a sync status screen.
• Active profile names, fresh Continue Watching lists and a cloud-backed Remove from Continue Watching context menu.
• Right-click films, programmes or episodes for Others also watch / Anderen kijken ook recommendations.

Download plugin.video.videoland.nl-1.2.0.zip below and install it through Kodi's Add-ons → Install from zip file. Use this asset rather than GitHub's source archives. Restart Kodi after upgrading to load the background service and new translations.

Cloud history remains the default. For local history, open Settings → Playback history → Save and resume using → This Kodi device only. Switching modes does not copy or erase history. Pending cloud saves are paused in local mode and can resume when cloud mode and saving are enabled again.

Validation

96 automated tests pass. Python syntax and ZIP integrity checks pass. Kodi Omega add-on checker reports no problems or warnings. Playback/resume and cloud features were exercised on LibreELEC during development; the related-title directory returned six recommendations in a live Kodi check.

What's new

• Guided Widevine setup: InputStream Helper 0.8.6 or newer is now a required dependency. Before playback, it checks InputStream Adaptive and Widevine and guides setup on supported platforms.
• Clean cancellation: declining or failing setup stops playback before the addon requests short-lived playback credentials.
• Accurate quality guidance: README and investigation notes explain the observed 540p limit on the tested LibreELEC setup. This release does not add HD support or change the existing licence request.

Install or upgrade

Download plugin.video.videoland.nl-1.1.0.zip below, then select Add-ons → Install from zip file in Kodi. Install over the existing addon to retain login, profiles and settings. Keep Kodi's official addon repository enabled so it can install InputStream Helper. Start a video and follow any setup prompts.

Use the addon ZIP asset, not the automatically generated source archives. It contains a single plugin.video.videoland.nl/ folder with addon.xml directly inside, matching previous releases.

Validation

• All 45 unit tests pass, including setup cancellation and successful playback preparation.
• Kodi addon checker passes for Nexus, Omega and Piers.
• ZIP structure, CRC integrity, version and packaged file contents verified against the source.

• Complete genre & collection lists — every page is loaded when browsing genres, collections, seasons and search results. Genre lists no longer stop at 24 titles, and all genre folders are available.
• Reliable pagination — section membership and search parameters are preserved across pages, duplicate titles are dropped, and stalled pagination is reported instead of silently showing incomplete results.
• Straight-to-titles genre folders — opening a genre shows its full title list directly (no repeated submenu), with titles from multi-rail genres combined without duplicates.
• Quiet first-load notice — lists that need many title lookups show a one-time notice; it is remembered across visits and Kodi restarts.
• Working Clear Cache button — Settings → Cache → Clear Cache now runs the cleanup while keeping the settings window open.
• Resilient loading — transient server errors (5xx) are retried on cached requests, so a brief API hiccup no longer aborts a long list.

Housekeeping

• kodi-addon-checker passes clean on nexus, omega and piers (an upstream checker bug that crashed on network failures is patched in CI and in scripts/run-addon-check-local.sh).
• 43 unit tests passing.

🔐 Security

• Encrypted credential storage — your email and password are encrypted with a device-bound key before they ever reach disk. Passwords no longer appear in settings.xml.
• Automatic re-login — when a session or JWT expires, the add-on silently re-authenticates from the stored (encrypted) credentials and retries the request.
• Legacy migration — existing plaintext sessions are migrated to the encrypted store automatically.
• Log redaction — emails and tokens are redacted from Kodi logs.
