Stride v1.0.10 — Looking Glass
This release covers everything since v1.0.8 (1.0.9 and 1.0.10). The headline is
accuracy: Stride now counts from your watch when you wear one, never adds two
sources together, and filters bus, car and auto rides on the default Health
Connect source too. It also brings a big visual update.
More accurate step counts
Watch first, never doubled
Under Health Connect the default is Automatic again:
- On days your watch or band has synced steps, Stride counts from the watch.
- Otherwise it counts from this phone's own built-in counter.
- The two are never added together. Health Connect only removes duplicates
when records line up exactly, so a walk the phone and the watch both logged
used to be counted twice.
Automatic used to combine every app on days without watch data. Now it reads
only the phone's counter, and all apps only on phones that keep no count of
their own. If you picked a source by hand, it is kept. You can still choose any
single app under Settings → Step source → Count steps from.
Accurate step filtering now works everywhere
Phones count road vibration as walking. The filter used to act only on the live
phone pedometer, so with the default source (the phone's counter in Health
Connect) every ride still added steps. Now:
- Detected rides are saved, and the phone's Health Connect steps recorded
inside them are taken off. Watch steps are left alone. - Steps are judged by when they happened, not when they arrived. With the
screen off, the phone delivers steps in batches, often after the ride has
ended. Those batches are now filtered too. - Rides are dated from their first vehicle reading, and a ride survives a
few minutes of silence from activity detection instead of ending and needing
to be confirmed again. - The detector no longer stays off for good if Physical activity was
granted after Stride started; it retries every minute until it runs.
Tested on a Pixel 6a with a CMF watch: Automatic matched the watch exactly, and
a one-hour test ride removed exactly the steps the phone recorded in that hour.
One place to choose where steps come from
Settings → Step source now holds both choices: Health Connect or This phone,
and under Health Connect which app to count from. The Step sources screen
(Help → Why is my count different?) is read-only diagnostics showing what
each app reported today.
New look
- Liquid glass navigation bar in every theme, with a clear glass tile that
slides to the selected tab. - Liquid glass for Classic and Verdant (Premium): cards become frosted glass
over a soft wallpaper, or your own photo. - Six app icons: the original plus Aurora, Ember, Lagoon, Cobalt and Blossom,
used on the home screen, in the app drawer and on the splash screen. - Rolling numbers, a full-screen badge celebration, springy nav icons,
bouncy scrolling and Pixel-style predictive back. - Walk is a tab like the others.
Also new
- Height and weight units: cm or ft · in, kg or lb, switchable right in the
Height and Weight dialogs and during setup. - Widget font and weight: widgets now use Stride's fonts, from Light to Heavy.
- Live Updates show the step count in the status-bar chip, and the
notification reads "710 to go · 2,000 goal".
Fixes
- Liquid glass: unreadable text on inverted cards (Premium unlocked, the Awards
streak, "Keep going!"), most visible with the Monochrome style. - "Use the sensor instead" during setup is now saved.
- Smoother opening of Home and History; flicks no longer stop dead after a bounce.
- The nav bar fits narrow screens and large text.
