Release list
Dangle v1.5.2
New
- Gift a charm: a charm a friend sends from the website's
Gift a charm page opens in Dangle with their
name and note. Hang it now puts it on your rope, and it is in your favourites either
way. If Dangle is already running, the gift opens there. - Adopt a charm: charms adopted on the website show Adopted by and the adopter's
name in the Library. Charms nobody has adopted yet have an Adopt this charm link.
Adopting is a way to support Dangle and unlocks nothing. Names arrive with each update;
Dangle still goes online only to check for updates. - Support Niranjan links to both pages.
Android
- Updates finish on their own: after Install in About, Dangle reopens by itself
once the update is in, and the charm comes back if it was showing. From Android 12,
updates after the first one install without asking; the first still needs one tap on
Android's own confirmation.
Download Dangle-win-x64-Setup.exe (most PCs). The ARM64 build is provided but has not been tested on ARM hardware.
Dangle is not code-signed, so Windows will show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Dangle v1.5.1
Changed
- The Toran look, finished: every page has a handwritten label over its title (Your
collection, Your own charm, How it hangs and moves), and the small labels such as
Editing rope, Created by and the Library's collection headings are written by hand
instead of in small capitals.
Android
- The status card at the top is the website's indigo doorway, with a Rozha One title and
a marigold Cord button, and Library, Create and Appearance open with the same
handwritten labels.
Download Dangle-win-x64-Setup.exe (most PCs). The ARM64 build is provided but has not been tested on ARM hardware.

Dangle v1.5.0
Added
- Ten new Dangle Living charms, each with its own sound:
- Pocket Watch: its hands keep the real local time, with a sweeping second hand.
- Pocket Battery: its window shows your computer's real battery charge, and a bolt
lights up while it is plugged in. - Googly Rock: a pet rock whose googly eyes roll every time it swings, and keep
rolling after it stops. - Locket: tap it and the engraved lid swings open on a painted sunset.
- Pufferfish: puffs right up when tapped or thrown hard, then slowly deflates.
- Snow Globe: shake it and the snow swirls, then settles.
- Diya, Pressure Cooker (its whistle rattles and lets off steam), Hourglass
and Firefly Jar (fireflies scatter when shaken and glow brighter in the evening).
- Put it in a locket on the Create page: your picture goes inside a gold locket whose
lid opens when you tap the charm. - New collections: Dangle Kitchen (Bubble Tea, Dumpling, Onigiri, Idli Plate, Ice
Cream Cone), Dangle Space (Astronaut, Rocket, UFO), Tamil Everyday (Filter Coffee, Auto
Rickshaw, Kolam Coin, Bus Ticket, Malli Poo) and Festivals (Pongal Pot, Eid Lantern,
Holi Drop, Christmas Bauble, Pumpkin Lantern). - New originals: Brass Anchor, Disco Ball, Paper Crane (flaps its wings), Feather and
three felt Matryoshka sisters — Masha, Dasha and Sasha — to hang together on one cord.
The Library now holds 149 charms. - Two new click reactions, Puff and Open, and eight new kinds of moving part for
charm artwork: pendulum, clock, swell, gauge, charge, lid, swirl and fall.
Changed
- A new Toran look for the Dangle window: indigo by day and night, a vermilion accent,
marigold buttons and the toran striped along the top.
Android
- Dangle Living comes to Android: all twenty-two Living charms move, glow and play
their own sounds on the phone, along with the God of War collections, the five newer
cords and every 1.5 charm. The Pocket Battery shows the phone's own charge. - Charm sounds replace the bell (Dangle Living sounds in Appearance), and Create can
put a photo in a locket. - Steam, flames and other idle animation pause while Save battery is on, as they do on a
laptop running on battery.
Download Dangle-win-x64-Setup.exe (most PCs). The ARM64 build is provided but has not been tested on ARM hardware.

Dangle v1.4.0
Added
- Dangle Living: twelve original charms that move by themselves — Moon Lantern,
Sleepy Fox, Rain Bottle, Orbit Saturn, Jellyfish, Lucky Koi, Pocket Campfire, Crystal
Prism, Little Robot, Cloud Whale, Chai Cup and Monsoon Leaf. Ears and tails wobble after
a flick, water and tea stay level as the charm swings, Saturn's ring spins, a robot
blinks, steam rises, a flame flickers and a lantern brightens when clicked. - Every charm has a designed feel: weight (light, medium, heavy), softness, swing
response and settling speed, a click reaction (glow, blink, ripple, bounce, spin or
flap) and, for Living charms, a sound. The Library shows them under the charm, with
the rope it pairs with. - Every Living charm has its own voice: the robot goes "bee-boop", Saturn whooshes as
its ring spins, the fox snores, the bottle bloops, the jellyfish wobbles under water,
the koi splashes, the campfire crackles, the prism sparkles, the whale calls, a spoon
clinks in the chai, a raindrop plinks on the leaf and the moon lantern shimmers. Only
Living charms make a sound; every other charm is silent, including the bells, which
rang in 1.3. Sounds are synthesised in the app, off by default (Dangle Living sounds
in Appearance), play on a click or softly on a hard throw, and are limited to one every
350 ms. - Five new ropes: Cotton Thread, Pale Silk, Red Thread, Natural Twine and Steel Chain.
- Simple pendulum (Appearance, per rope, off by default): the rope becomes one plain
damped pendulum. A dragged charm is pinned exactly to the cursor, a flick carries its
release speed, and when let go it always swings back and settles straight down. Calm,
Normal and Lively bundle gravity and damping; Settling speed (damping 0.983–0.994 per
frame) and Swing response tune it. The rope style keeps its look. - Drag to move (Appearance, per rope, off by default): grab the rope by its cord and
slide it along the top of the screen; it stays where you let go and remembers the new
place. The pointer turns into a left-right arrow over a cord that can be moved. The
charm keeps its own drag, which always swings back. - Use : one click puts the rope a charm was designed for on the current rope.
Nothing changes the rope unless you ask. - Moon Lantern and Cloud Whale glow a little brighter in the evening.
- God of War: two new collections, Olympus (11 charms, from Kratos of Sparta to the
Kraken) and Midgard (13, from Kratos and Atreus to Jörmungandr and Fenrir). The Library
now holds 114 charms. - Theme card in Appearance: System, Light or Dark, applied to every Dangle window and
its title bar at once.
Changed
- A new look: a rust-and-paper design across the Library, Create, Appearance, About,
the welcome card and dialogs, and a new app icon — a charm on a cord, mid-swing. - A click and a drag are different. Only a short, still press counts as a click and
plays the click reaction; letting go of a dragged charm plays its flick instead. - Idle animation is cheap. Steam, flames and breathing light draw at a quarter of the
display rate once the rope is still, and pause on battery, behind a fullscreen app, with
reduced motion on, or when Windows Animation effects is off. - The eight 1.3 originals have their own colours and descriptions.
- "Distance below the top" is gone from Appearance. Charms always hang from the very
top of the screen; a distance saved by 1.3 is ignored.
Download Dangle-win-x64-Setup.exe (most PCs). The ARM64 build is provided but has not been tested on ARM hardware.
Dangle is not code-signed, so Windows will show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Android
- Dangle-android-arm64.apk (38 MB) for almost every recent phone; Dangle-android.apk (64 MB) works on any phone, including older 32-bit ones.
- Install: open the APK on the phone and allow installing from your browser or file manager when Android asks.
- This APK is signed with a development key. A future APK signed with a different key will need Dangle to be uninstalled first.
