@Niranjan266 Niranjan266 released this 20 Oct 16:01

Give life to Nibi (optional, off by default)

  • Nibi can talk in its own words: use your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key, a local model (Ollama,
LM Studio or any OpenAI-compatible server), or the Claude Code or Codex app you already use.
  • Keys stay in Windows Credential Manager. Only short event summaries are sent (never prompts, code or
files), at most one every 30 seconds and 60 a day, with Nibi's usual lines as a fallback.
  • "Talk to Nibi" for a one-line chat reply in Nibi's bubble.

Welcome and safety (Phase 10)

  • A four-step tour the first time you open Nibi (and again from Settings, About).
  • A local crash log with secrets removed; "Send report" opens a GitHub issue you read first. Nothing
    is sent on its own.
  • Reduced motion: follows Windows' animation setting, or choose it in Settings.
  • Better keyboard use and screen reader labels across Nibi's window.
  • Install with one command: irm https://niranjand.in/nibi/install.ps1 | iex, or with Scoop.

Sleeps less

  • Nibi sleeps only when no agent is busy and you have been away from the keyboard and mouse.
  • Clicking, dragging, double-clicking, tickling, hovering over Nibi or opening its menu wakes it.
  • New setting: fall asleep after 2, 10 (default) or 30 minutes, or never. "Wake up" and "Stay awake"
in Nibi's menu, and "Stay awake" in the tray.

Life with you (Phase 9)

  • Good morning: the first time you sit down each day, a stretch and a card with today's meetings,
    overnight builds and waiting approvals.
  • Mood memory: Nibi remembers how much you play with it. More hearts and happy antics when fond; a
small pout and "Missed you!" after a long time apart. Never nags.
  • Break reminders (off by default): a yawn and "Time to stretch?" after 90 minutes at the keyboard.
  • Celebrations: confetti and a dance when a build passes after failing, and a party after a clean day.
  • Feed Nibi: drop a file on it and it eats it (just for show), saying the name and size.
  • Follow the cursor (off by default) along the bottom of the screen.
  • Seasonal outfits: a lamp around Diwali, a scarf and snow in December, a party hat on your birthday.
  • Flock friends: sprites visit each other and high-five when two agents finish together.
  • Little noises on tickles and happy hops (with Sounds on).
  • Sticker pose: Ctrl+Alt+N or "Save a sticker" saves a see-through picture to Pictures\Nibi.
  • All of these are in Settings > Companion.

Everyday (Phase 7.3-7.11)

  • Nibi's window reopens at its last size, position and page.
  • Click a "needs you" or error bubble on Nibi to open the right page; the right-click menu adds
    "Waiting for you" and "Automations".
  • Undo after disconnecting an app; "Test connection" for GitHub, Calendar, DevPulse and Vercel.
  • Connect all your AI agents from one list.
  • Export today as Markdown or CSV, keep 90 days of history, and search back through it.
  • Optional notification sounds (off by default; never in quiet hours or focus mode).
  • Nibi on any monitor: drag it there or use "Move to the next screen".
  • Left-click the tray for a small popover; Mica backdrop on Windows 11.

A livelier Nibi

  • A crouch before every hop and a stretch in the air, an antenna that wobbles after landing, leaning
when curious or looking around, drowsy eyelids when falling asleep and a stretch on waking.
  • Eyelid blinks, smoother mood changes, hands and props that grow in and out, Dance on the beat.
  • A sharper Pixel look with crisp pixel symbols, a retro 15 fps for Pixel and Arcade, twinkling sparks,
and a new "Spin and get dizzy" antic.

Fixes

  • Lower idle CPU (a calm Nibi draws at 30 fps; no busy loop when display timing is unavailable).
  • A quick click on a sleeping Nibi no longer goes to the app underneath.
  • Nibi no longer bumps the screen edge when the waiting agent is on another monitor.
  • An answered approval no longer comes back; snooze timers no longer pile up.
  • A plain click near the screen edge no longer moves Nibi to another monitor.
  • Opening the window twice quickly no longer loses the page; cards stay on screen.

Play (Phase 8)

  • When nothing needs you, Nibi does little things on its own: stretches, yawns, chases a butterfly,
peeks, waves when your cursor comes by, purrs when you hover, and more. It notices the time of day,
the season and special days, and talks in its sleep.
  • It never plays while you drag it, while an approval or bubble is up, or in focus mode and quiet
hours. Choose how playful it is in Settings.

Pastel Arcade

  • A second style for Nibi's window and for Nibi itself, in Settings.

Fixes

  • Nibi could ride a window parked off-screen and vanish. Off-screen windows no longer count, and if
Nibi ever ends up off-screen it drops back in.

A new face

  • New app logo: Nibi as a die-cut sticker, on the taskbar, tray, Start menu and installer.

Everyday

  • Snooze an approval for 15 minutes or 1 hour; it comes back when the snooze ends, even after a restart.
  • Mute a project for an hour, until tomorrow, or until you unmute it: its automations pause (logged) and Nibi stays quiet about it.
  • Light, Dark or Match Windows for Nibi's window (Settings, General).

If you have 1.0 or 1.1, Nibi will offer this update. Not code-signed yet: SmartScreen may say More info, then Run anyway.

A friendlier Nibi window

  • New look: Nibi's desk. Home opens with Nibi's face and one sentence about what needs you.
  • Things waiting for you are sticky notes with big buttons (Open, Approve, Deny) and a countdown.
  • Sessions are index cards with a state stamp, sorted by urgency, with search and mood filters.
  • A setup checklist: connect an AI helper, see a live session, pick how chatty Nibi is, try an automation, start with Windows.
  • Plain page names (Home, Today, Apps, Automations, Settings), keyboard shortcuts (1-5, /, ?), toasts, and Undo for deleting a rule.
  • Write automations from scratch, with a sentence preview.
  • Light, and a desk-at-night dark theme.

On Nibi itself

  • Right-click Nibi for its own menu: Open Nibi, Today's recap, Focus mode, Pause actions, Pixel look, Hide Nibi, Quit.
  • Double-click opens the window without also bringing the waiting agent up. The window is created when you open it and fully closed when you close it, so it uses no CPU while closed.

If you already have 1.0.0, Nibi will offer this update (Settings → About → Check for updates). The installer is still not code-signed: SmartScreen may say "More info → Run anyway".

Nibi 1.0.0

@Niranjan266 Niranjan266 released this 17 Oct 11:33

First release of Nibi, a small desktop friend for Windows that watches your AI agents and rings a bell when one needs you. Everything stays on your PC.

What's in 1.0.0

  • A native, smooth Nibi (60 fps awake, about 1% of a core asleep) that shows what Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, VS Code and ChatGPT are doing, plus GitHub CI, Vercel, DevPulse, calendar and music.
  • The Approval Bell: Nibi walks to the agent that's waiting for you.
  • Rules and approvals: safe actions run on their own, anything else asks you first, and everything is logged.
  • A redesigned sessions panel with light and dark mode, Settings, first-run setup and Start with Windows (off by default).
  • A read-only MCP server so agents can ask Nibi who's waiting; letting agents make Nibi speak is opt-in.
  • Daily update check that always asks before installing.

Install: download Nibi_1.0.0_x64-setup.exe and run it. It installs just for you, no admin prompt. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: choose More info → Run anyway.

Uninstall from Windows Settings → Apps. It removes every agent hook Nibi added.
