This release makes the visualizations genuinely react to your music, adds
internet radio, and introduces an in-app updater.
Download
- OpenLegacyPlayer-Setup-0.3.0.exe - installer with Start menu entry and
clean uninstall. - OpenLegacyPlayer-Portable-0.3.0.zip - portable build, unzip and run.
Both are self-contained for 64-bit Windows 10/11. No .NET install needed.
What's new
Audio-reactive visualizations
- Every visualization now responds to the real audio spectrum.
- Six scenes on a black stage, switchable with a right-click in Now Playing:
- Bars and Waves: Bars, Ocean Mist, Scope
- Alchemy: Random
- Battery: sepiaswirl, purple haze
Internet radio
- Paste any MP3 stream URL into the Stream button. It plays instantly, and the
visualizers react to it just like a local file.
Automatic updater
- The app checks for new releases and shows a changelog with Update now or
Ask later. The installed build can download and update itself in place.
Opens your files
- Double-click a song and it plays in OpenLegacy Player once you set it as
default (Settings has a shortcut to Windows Default apps). A second launch
hands the file to the running window instead of opening a new one.
Polish
- Glassier seek and volume sliders, and a fixed play/pause orb.
Good to know
- Windows requires you to confirm the default app choice in its own Settings.
- Video files currently play their audio track only.
- The visualizations are decorative scenes driven by the live audio spectrum.
This is a fan recreation made for the love of an era and is not affiliated with
Microsoft.
