GlouOS 0.12

Added

  • Discord that streams the right way up. The official Discord app's own
    voice engine flips the picture upside down on NVIDIA cards and can't
    capture audio - and that's a bug only Discord can fix. GlouOS now
    recommends Vesktop (Discord with proper Linux support): the Welcome
    Center and Package Manager list "Discord (Vesktop - fixed screenshare)"
    first, with the official app still available below it. Vesktop
    screenshares through the same pipeline browsers use: correct orientation,
    native Wayland, and it even streams game audio.

  • A progress bar for file operations. Compressing, extracting, copying
    and moving no longer leave you guessing: the File Explorer's status bar
    shows a live progress bar with a percentage, weighted by actual bytes -
    so zipping up a big game folder ticks along visibly instead of sitting
    there in silence.

  • The installer slideshow shows the real GlouOS. The placeholder art in
    the installation wizard is gone - while your system installs you now see
    actual screenshots of the desktop, the Game Center's performance advisor
    and the one-click Package Manager, each sized to fit without stretching.

  • A real Task Manager. GlouOS now ships its own Windows 11-style Task
    Manager: Processes with End task, a Performance tab with live CPU /
    Memory / Disk / Network / GPU graphs and full stats (speed, cores,
    caches, uptime), Startup apps you can enable or disable with a
    double-click, a Details view and a Services list. Open it with
    Ctrl+Shift+Esc - just like Windows - or from the start menu, GlouOS
    Settings, the desktop right-click menu, or by right-clicking the search
    button on the taskbar.

Fixed

  • Vulkan drivers are on the ISO now - no internet, no problem. If you
    installed GlouOS without an internet connection, the AMD/Intel Vulkan
    drivers silently never got installed - and every Proton game would just
    crash on launch. The Mesa Vulkan drivers (plus audio firmware) now ship
    on the ISO itself, the driver setup retries and reports failures instead
    of staying quiet, and the first login warns you if anything is still
    missing.
  • Taskbars finally match across monitors. Pinning an app on one
    screen's taskbar now shows up on the other instantly, and so does
    re-ordering your pins - both taskbars stay perfectly in sync instead of
    living separate lives.
