@NoobCity99 NoobCity99 released this 14 Jul 05:50

Welcome to the BIG 0.3.0!

This update was intended to just be some UI improvements, but the good ideas just kept coming, so we got some nice new features as well. Thanks to everyone who shared their good vibes and great feedback. If you have any ideas feel free to drop by the Beta Test Discord.

CHANGE LOG:

  • Passcode: While some people probably don't worry about this, if you're going to be putting network particulars in your Atlas you CAN activate the password feature if you want. The Green Notice on your top bar will go away after the second dismissal. If you want to activate it later, it can be found in SETTINGS.

  • New Icon Library: This is method is WAY easier than before. Upload your own icons and keep them all in one place. Delete them if you don't like them anymore.

  • Connector Lines: Bottom left button changes connector lines to anti-collision straight lines. It's pretty clunky right now, I'll keep working on it.

  • Updated themes : Retro NES , improved blueprint theme background. new light grid background, new TRON backgrounds

  • UI Improvements : New LOOK, Compact theme picker, Auto Save Indicator no longer shifts top bar buttons constantly, Updated TOP BAR buttons & logo are more compact & efficient. Handbook light mode text visibility improved, Handbook relationships make sense now , Handbook Bug fixes. "IP" now hyperlinked like 'URL' fields. Clicking or Dragging new Tile on to canvas drops it right away, you can change name and details later.

REMINDER: This "release" is just the release notes, if you're here for the first time and want to download the app, go back and select Packages, where the Docker Image link is located. Easy Peasy.

CT ROADMAP : beta-v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@NoobCity99 NoobCity99 released this 09 Jul 08:12

Let me first just say THANK YOU to all the folks who have downloaded this app and those who've been very encouraging online. Since we hit the 100+ download mark, I've created a DISCORD SERVER for feedback & bug reports, you're welcome to stop by and give your two cents or tell me I'm a wanker.

BLUF: This update introduces a number of small UI Fixes & Updates but chiefly introducing 2 new major features; Families & the HANDBOOK.

CHANGE LOG:

1. FAMLIES : This feature serves two functions, creates a visible 'area' you can group tiles in to show they're part of a particular system/subsystem. AND Serves as the top level hierarchy tier used by The HANDBOOK to group pieces of your system together. On the CANVAS the visible family tile area can be resized to however you like, it's physical location does not effect tiles. Tiles must be manually assigned to a family, it doesn't matter if they're touching the family tile area or not. Child tiles of parents added to a family automatically join that family. Tiles can be part of a family but not have a parent. You can reduce the size of the family tile to simple a header if you'd like.

2. The HANDBOOK : This replaces the useless "layered" Template with a visual guidebook to your system. It converts what you've drawn on your map into Volumes / Chapters / Headers. On the left panel is your Table on Contents sorted by Family (Volumes) which you can reorder. After selecting a volume the right side has your full OUTLINE of that volume for easy navigation. There are parts of each tile you can and CAN NOT edit. (data that would reorder / change relationships can NOT be changed in HANDBOOK view). The HANDBOOK was designed to give you another way to browse your system AND a more comfortable notes field to fill out / read if you have lots of info in there.
Hierarchy:
Families = Volumes
Parent/root tiles = Chapters
Child tiles = Sections inside Chapters
Family members with no parent = Epilogue
Tiles with no Family = Final Unassigned Volume

3. NEW TILES: Added IOT Devices (internet of things) for folks with massive Home Assistant rigs. And the Family feature is on the Tile Palette as well.

4. LAYERS: Former "views" item on left menu panel now called LAYERS, and defaults to HARDWARE/SOFTWARE/INFRASTRUCTURE/EVERYTHING you can edit these options by adjusting the "Filter" checkboxes while looking at a LAYER, as well as add/delete layers. On CANVAS the Layers quick menu can collapse into just the 'eye'.

Thank you!

CT ROADMAP : beta-v0.1.2

@NoobCity99 NoobCity99 released this 03 Jul 02:59

First round of UI updates, improvements and bug fixes. (caused by some of the improvements, but worth it) The most important improvements are the AUTO SAVE | CUSTOM ICONS | STACKING TILES | PRIMARY NODES.

CHANGE LOG:

1: AUTO SAVE _ Added debounced autosave with 1000ms delay. Your atlas now autosaves after every change. Save icon remains for manual saving.

2: STACKING TILES _ Certain tiles can now be stacked together to reduce clutter. Stacked tiles can not be moved while in the stack, will return to original location when unstacked. Right-click to stack/unstack.
3a: Eligible tiles for STACKING:
- Any tiles who's parent is a 'Mount' tile. ex: "Mount A" is listed as parent to three drives and a config tile. Right click on "Mount A" and select "Stack". All four of the child tiles will stack under the mount tile. Select the now STACKED mount tile and the inspector will list all items STACKED inside.
- Any group of SAME TILE TYPE who share the same parent. ex: 7 scripts have "NODE 2" listed as their parent. Right-click on any of the children you want to stack, select STACK. 6 of the scripts will stack under the one script closest to their parent. The closest script will visibly be stacked and list it's contents. This stack can be renamed, but like the mount stacks, CAN NOT be moved. Unstack them to move, edit, rearrange.

3: CUSTOM ICON _ All tiles now allow you to upload your own custom ICONs. Stacked tiles adopt the Mount tile icon , or child closest to the parent tile.

4: PRIMARY NODE _ Node tiles now have a "Primary Node" checkbox.(Right side inspector pane) This makes the tile 25% bigger and has larger white glow, making it easier to differentiate your server node from it's files, services, drives, etc. Or just make it stand out for whatever reason you want. Maybe it's your favorite node because you've had it since high school and brag a parties that you still have a Pentium II running strong. Good for you. Now go get a fire extinguisher , it's on fire.

5: Added new canvas themes and background patterns. Blueprint Theme adopts the blueprint background, but you can change the background to which ever you want. Added : HEX, CIRCUIT, BLUEPRINT, PCB Board.

6: Changed Top menu bar: Modified buttons to use space more efficiently. Changed the name of "seed" file to "Demo". Changed Download your Atlas button to be clearer.

7: Added collapsing feature to left menu panel items. Tile Selector collapses to an infinite scroll window, remains drag & drop. Made the "view" bar at the top left of the canvas collapsing, just tap the "EYE" icon.

8: Hyperlinks _ URL's on tiles how open new tab to that url. and PATH's on tiles copy to clipboard when you click on them.

FUTURE PLANS:
This project is meant to be primarily a passive tool to keep a record of how your system is arranged & operates. So system scanning, auto detecting, probably won't be a thing. But I'm exploring backend integrations with things like NETBOX or LibreNMS to get that data.
Future UI updates I'm working on will be swim lane charts for the FLOW Tile (The flow tile sucks right now). And changing or replacing the LAYERED template, right now it's awful and useless. Sorry about that, the hierarchy logic is flawed.

I don't have any formal "feedback" method set up... but if you have any questions or issues or just want to roast me, post them here :

@NoobCity99 NoobCity99 released this 01 Jul 18:16

This version is the first update to the Beta. It added an "update checker" that will ping this repo periodically to see if the version # has changed in the 'version.json' file. If a new version has been pushed, an alert will appear in your app and you can opt to manually pull the updated docker image.

  • It will NOT auto update.
  • It is NOT "push button" update
  • It's just "An update is available if you want it" alert.

IF YOU ARE HERE TO GET CTROADMAP FOR THE FIRST TIME, GO TO THE LATEST PACKAGE & FOLLOW THE STEPS FOR DOCKER IMAGE INSTALL.
