Editing and Building the Source Code

On this page you'll learn how to set up the Micro:OS project in your desired IDE as well as how to build your Micro:OS project.
- Download the MakeCode Arcade extension for Visual Studio Code.
- Download and unzip the source code
- Open the source code folder in Visual Studio Code.
- Head over to the
Asset Explorertab on the sidebar. - Select
Install Project Dependenciesfrom theactionsmenu.
- Head over to the Microsoft MakeCode Arcade website.
- Select
import - Select
Import URL... - Input
https://github.com/NotCryptid/MicroOSas the repository url. - Select
Go Ahead!
Note
You can skip steps 1-6 if you set up the project in the MakeCode Arcade Website and you can skip step 1 if you're not planning on making any changes.
- Upload the source code to a GitHub repository.
Important
Ensure the main branch is named master
- Head over to the Microsoft MakeCode Arcade website.
- Select
import
Without signing into GitHub
- Select
Import URL... - Input your GitHub repository url.
Important
If you are not using the Micro:OS repository, ensure your GitHub repository is public.
- Select
Go Ahead!
With signing into GitHub (Recommended)
- Select
Your GitHub Repo... - Sign in with GitHub.
- Select your GitHub repository.
Once you've opened the Operating System in MakeCode you can continue with the following steps.
- Click the 3 dots next to the
Downloadbutton. - Select
Choose hardware - Select your hardware.
- Click the
Downloadbutton.
After you're done you can safely delete the project from the MakeCode Arcade site.
