Version 0.6.0
The Sky Remembers
The sky is no longer scenery — it's your story's memory. This release gives Constellation a Chronicle of durable facts, turns every chat into a constellation of bookmarked moments, and lets the starfield itself weather the mood of your writing. Under the hood: any OpenAI-compatible provider, a hardened renderer, and a long list of fixes.
✦ New
Chronicle — a reader's reference panel behind a slim tab on the right edge. It distills your story into durable facts (secrets, promises, injuries, turning points) so you never misremember your own tale. Capture new reads only what's happened since the last pass; ↻ Rebuild re-reads the whole story. Both run in sequential chunks with a live progress bar and a stop control that keeps what it read. Facts are editable, deletable, stored per chat — and never injected into the model's context.
Story Constellations — every chat owns a constellation: one star for the story's first light, one more for every ★ you bookmark. The current story's pattern hangs in the right margin — hover a star to preview its moment, click to travel there. Click the pattern to open the Sky map, where all your stories are constellations in one sky.
Mood-weather sky — the starfield reads the tone of your latest writing and slowly eases toward it: tension red-shifts the stars and makes them flicker, sorrow dims and slows them, joy warms them gold, calm cools them blue. A local word-list, no API calls; toggleable in Appearance.
Colored prose — color words in the text now actually render in their own color (previously tagged but never drawn). The name bank grew to 223, and dark hues like obsidian and onyx get a luminance floor so they stay readable on the true-black sky. Toggleable in Color atmosphere.
Any OpenAI-compatible provider — OpenRouter, Ollama, LM Studio and friends via the endpoint dropdown and custom model IDs. Thinking effort carries over as standard reasoning_effort on non-GLM providers.
New models — glm-5.3-flash (fast, vision-native, 3× coding-plan quota), glm-5v-turbo and glm-4.6v for vision; dead models retired.
Living Constellations — when a lorebook entry feeds a reply, its star pattern lights up in the margin; click it to see exactly which passages the model was given.
Chat organization — hide chats you're done with (⊘), sidebar opens scrolled to the chat you're in, plus the existing folders, pins, and search.
Bundled Literata — the app's typeface now ships inside it, so it renders identically on every machine.
🔧 Fixed
Bookmark jumps were dead — clicking a bookmark did nothing. They work again, landing on the saved message with a flash.
Shortened thinking on some chats — per-chat settings snapshots had frozen a stale thinking-effort override; snapshots now carry only the model, everything else follows Settings.
Cosmic events stopped spawning, and previously could overlap the text at wide chat widths — spawn zones now derive from the real chat column.
Freeze after failed requests and silent hangs — a 90-second watchdog cancels them cleanly.
Copy on long fresh replies coming back blank; composer lag after heavy pasting; image thumbnails not rendering; the GPU compositing crash; the scroll-snap when a reply finished while reading.
🔒 Security & internals
Sandboxed renderer, IPC id validation on every handler, navigation guards, strict CSP. Literata bundled under SIL OFL 1.1 with notices.

✦ Your stories, written among the stars ✦
The biggest update yet: a lorebook system that reads with you, phrase bans that
scrub the AI-isms out of your prose, variant takes, image input, bookmarks,
folders — and a night sky that reacts to the colors in your writing.
🏰 Lorebooks — worlds that stay consistent
- Build a collection of titled lorebooks and enable them per chat. New chats start
with lore off — nothing gets injected unless you ask. - Paste a whole world bible into one entry: smart retrieval finds and sends
only the passages your current scene needs — a 300 KB encyclopedia sends a
few paragraphs, not the whole thing. A 🌍 note on each reply shows exactly
what was pulled. - Trigger-word entries for facts you always want whole when a word appears,
and always-include entries for core canon. - Optional semantic matching (off by default): flip it on and retrieval
matches by meaning — "the scaled beast" finds your dragon lore — using a
small model that runs entirely on your machine. - Attach
.md/.txtfiles to entries or to your system/project instructions
as living context.
✍️ Writing tools
- Phrase bans — list the words models overuse ("delve into", "a tapestry
of") and Constellation quietly swaps or strips them after generation. The
model never sees the list, so it never leans into it. - Regenerate variants — ↻ now keeps every take. Flip between them with
‹ 1/3 › and continue from the one you like. - Bookmarks (★) — star any passage in any chat and jump back to it later.
- Craft coach improvements and a growing craft journal.
🌌 A sky that listens
- Color words in a reply now light up the background as you scroll past them —
and optional cosmic events (comets, planets, supernovas, flaring stars)
bloom in that color at the edges of your screen. - Fully controllable: Settings → Color atmosphere (intensity, reach,
spread, blend, events on/off, event size).
🧰 Everything else
- Image input for vision models (attach or drag-drop; switch to a vision
model likeglm-4.5vand the general endpoint) - Folders to group chats, pinned chats, full-text search with jump-to-match
- Per-chat draft autosave, usage/token tracking, export to Markdown
- Preserved Thinking carried between turns · thinking indicator while replies
warm up · scroll that stays put while you read - One-file backup & restore now covers lorebooks, bookmarks, phrase bans
- glm-5.3 support
- New README with a proper tour — and yes, it's all AI-generated code.
⚠️ Upgrade notes
- Your data is safe — updating never touches your chats or settings in
%AppData%\constellation. A backup before updating never hurts, though. - The installer is bigger now (~170 MB) because the optional on-device
semantic-matching engine is bundled. If you never enable semantic matching,
it never runs and never downloads anything. - If you had a lorebook before: it migrates to a titled lorebook called
"Main" on first launch — entries intact. Existing chats now have lore
off by default; open ❖ and tick "Main" to re-enable per chat. - Vision needs the general endpoint (not the Coding Plan endpoint).
Made with GLM. The sky is yours. ✦
