OpenAMX V0.12.0 - Core Language Additions
OpenAMX V0.12 adds record inheritance, enumerations, and braced if expressions and statements, along with updated editor support, documentation, examples, and desktop Help.
What’s new
- Record inheritance: Records can extend one or more earlier record types and inherit their fields. Use override to explicitly resolve inherited field collisions or replace an inherited field’s contract. Inheritance reuses fields; it does not make child records assignable to parent types.
- Enumerations: Declare named members with automatic numeric values starting at 1, or assign unique literal Number or String values. Enum member access produces the underlying primitive value.
- Braced conditionals: Use if blocks as expressions or standalone statements. Expression branches require else and an explicit value return on every path; statement branches may omit else. The existing single-line conditional expression remains unchanged.
- Editor and documentation updates: VS Code and the desktop editor include V0.12 authoring support. The release also adds a V0.12 language specification, two runnable examples, and a searchable desktop Help topic.
V0.12 is additive and retains existing behavior outside these language additions. No migration guide is required.
OpenAMX - V0.11.0
V0.11.0 improves the fidelity and editability of exported reports across HTML, PDF, and DOCX.
- Richer report narratives: Headings, formatted text, lists, blockquotes, tables, code, links, and project-local images are better supported in exported reports.
- Editable DOCX content and charts: DOCX exports include editable headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and native Word charts with embedded data for supported cases. When a chart cannot be represented, the export explains the omission and retains the complete data table.
- Improved PDF output: PDF reports render more narrative formatting and include static charts, with complete chart data retained in tables.
- Safer desktop preview links: Activating external or project-local links in the preview goes through host confirmation.
Reports remain designed for offline use.
