NovaeonTradingAI 1.1.2 — cleaner news for the news check

NovaeonTradingAI 1.1.2 cleans up what the news check reads. Since 1.1.1 the bot also searches Google News per coin, and about one in five hits for a big coin turned out to be filler: paid presale promotions riding on " price prediction" titles, "best crypto to buy" lists, currency-converter pages. They didn't cause blocks, but they took up the 15 places Sentinel reads.

What changed

• Filler is dropped before Sentinel reads the headlines. Presale promotions and buy lists always (also when they piggyback on real news such as an exchange hack), converter and price-chart pages, and price predictions unless they contain a risk word (hack, exploit, delisting, lawsuit, …). • Tested before shipping:
  • Sentinel's 495 held-out items (8-bit build), with and without the filter: bad news caught 23/28 both times, harmless items blocked 8 → 6, 2× signal about the same (79 calls, 80% correct vs 75, 81%).
  • The one-year news check replay (research/veto-eval/): the same 10 entries blocked, the same portfolio result.
  • Live: a sample of 1,212 current search hits for the 20 coins, 23% dropped (spot-checked: promotions, buy lists, converter pages and price predictions); every coin keeps 5–15 headlines.

No change to the trading rules, the model or the app.

NovaeonTradingAI 1.1.1 — the news check reads the news

NovaeonTradingAI 1.1.1 makes the news check see the news. Until now the bot only read the RSS feeds of four crypto outlets: about 50–70 headlines in 48 hours in total, almost all about Bitcoin and Ether. For most of the 20 coins Sentinel had nothing to read, and the CoinDesk feed had stopped working (moved URL).

What changed

• Google News search per coin. Before each new position the bot now also runs two public Google News RSS searches for the coin: one plain, one for risk words (hack, exploit, delisting, lawsuit, outage, halt). This is the same source Sentinel's training data came from. Fetched only when an entry is checked, cached for 15 minutes; NOVAEON_NEWS_SEARCH=off turns it off. In our test all 20 coins got 12–15 headlines, and a news check took 1.3–3.3 seconds including Sentinel.
• Risk headlines keep their place. Busy coins have up to ~100 headlines in 48 hours. Up to 7 of the 15 headlines Sentinel reads now go to hits of the risk search first, so a day-old hack is not pushed out by a few hours of price commentary.
• CoinDesk feed fixed.
• News check replay (research/veto-eval/, results): the bot's own news-check code over a year of backtest entries with archived headlines. 616 entries, 10 blocked; blocked entries averaged −2.1% per trade vs +1.0% for the rest (weak evidence: about five events), and the portfolio result was unchanged (+61.4% vs +61.5%). The news check is insurance against hack-type events, not a source of returns.

No change to the trading rules, the model or the app. Sentinel is the same model (no new download).

NovaeonTradingAI 1.1.0 — Linux, Windows (beta), split setup

NovaeonTradingAI 1.1.0 brings the bot to Linux and, in beta, to Windows (via WSL2), with a split setup: the bot on a small Linux server or a Windows PC, the Novaeon Sentinel news check on your Mac in the same private network. This is exactly how our own bot runs now.

What's new

• Linux installer. The same one-line install on Linux (x86_64 and arm64): its own Python, systemd user services, practice money, a random password, the app on 127.0.0.1 only, 1× leverage, a health check, and the novaeon helper (status, start, stop, logs, password, update, uninstall). No root rights needed; the installer offers to turn on "linger" so the bot keeps running after you log out.
• Split setup. --sentinel remote --sentinel-url … connects the bot to Sentinel on another machine; the installer checks that it answers. --sentinel-only installs just the Sentinel model server on a Mac (listening on 127.0.0.1; share it in your Tailscale network with tailscale serve). The model server has no login, so keep it in a private network.
• Windows (beta). install.ps1 checks Windows and WSL2, installs Ubuntu in WSL if needed, turns on systemd there and runs the Linux installer. The app opens at http://localhost:8081. An opt-in scheduled task starts WSL when you log in and keeps the bot running. Not yet tested on a real Windows PC: feedback welcome.
• Sentinel modes. mlx (Mac, as before), remote, off (no news check, 1× only), and two experimental Linux modes: cuda (NVIDIA GPU with 24 GB, full-precision model with Kev's PyTorch backend) and cpu (about 20 GB of memory; not recommended: 1 to 3 minutes per news check on typical CPUs).
• Real-money key store on Linux. The bot key is kept in an encrypted systemd user credential (machine key + TPM when present, bound to your user). macOS keeps using the Keychain.
• Sentinel only, no fallback. If Sentinel does not answer, the bot no longer falls back to the untuned Kev-9B model (much weaker on crypto news: 41% vs 78% precision on bad news). It trades at 1× without the news check and logs that.
• The engine always restarts. After a clean exit (for example when it was stopped after a hang) the background service now starts it again, instead of leaving the bot off.
• novaeon update takes installer options, e.g. novaeon update --sentinel remote --sentinel-url http://<mac>:8010 moves Sentinel to another machine.
• Security update: Nuxt UI 4.11.2 with Tiptap 3.31.3 (fixes a ReDoS and a mergeAttributes advisory in the editor dependency).

Fixes

• novaeon stop followed right away by novaeon start on macOS could leave the services stopped.
• novaeon update could print a syntax error at the end (the helper replaced itself while running).
• AI leverage: in a split setup the bot machine's memory no longer locks AI leverage (it depends on the Sentinel build, which is checked instead: the 4-bit build keeps it locked).

Tested for this release

• Linux split setup on Ubuntu 26.04 (x86_64, systemd 259) against Sentinel on a Mac over Tailscale: install, health check, login, practice mode, a real news check from the running engine (about 0.2 s), novaeon status/stop/start/restart/update, switching to off, uninstall.
• NVIDIA path: installer on Ubuntu with an NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti (PyTorch CUDA picked automatically) and the serving code on that GPU with a small Kev model. The 9B model has not run on an NVIDIA GPU yet.
• Windows: script review and syntax checks in CI only.

Known limitations
