Magic Hotspot 0.2.24
This release licenses the project's authored Rust code and packaging under MIT. Third-party code, libraries and firmware retain their existing licenses; see LICENSE-NOTES.md. Earlier releases retain their original terms.
Packages are available for Ubuntu 24.04, Ubuntu 26.04, Debian 13 and Linux Mint 22.x (amd64). Choose the package matching your system and install with sudo apt install ./<package>.deb.
All three distro container builds passed tests and package installation/removal checks. Mint packages are built and checked on their Ubuntu 24.04 base, not a complete Mint desktop. CI does not test physical Bluetooth hardware.
Build and package validation. Source and SHA-256 checksums are included.
Magic Hotspot includes the shared magic-usb transport in a separate source folder. The vendored usbmuxd engine retains its upstream GPL license and notices.
magic-hotspot 0.2.23
Initial public release of Magic Hotspot 0.2.23.
GTK3 hotspot helper with USB, saved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth PAN connection options; automatic device discovery; English, Portuguese, Spanish and Greek; saved language choice; tray integration and optional login startup.
The single Ubuntu 26.04 amd64 package includes magic-usb 0.1.2, shared CSR client 1.1.1 and the iPhone USB helper. It supports graceful adapter swaps, conditional btusb handoff, and bounded PAN recovery. No separate driver package is required.
Install using sudo apt install ./magic-hotspot_0.2.23-1ubuntu26.04_amd64.deb.
Validation: 40 app tests, 6 autostart tests and 46 shared driver tests passed. Physical CSR initialization, CSR-to-UB500 swapping and UB500 PAN traffic were verified during development. Six virtual OBEX transfers passed; this does not validate physical file transfers or incoming desktop acceptance.
Magic Hotspot's own code is MIT licensed. Existing GPL driver/USB engine and third-party asset licenses are retained. Complete corresponding source and checksums are attached.
