Important

Important for GitHub 0.1.0 users: Vuttara Browser 0.1.0 has a confirmed restart-handoff bug in its built-in GitHub updater. It can download and verify 0.2.0, but on affected installs it may close without launching the installer or reopening Vuttara. If you are on 0.1.0, manually download and run the normal Vuttara Browser 0.2.0 installer once. Your existing Vuttara profile is preserved. Vuttara 0.2.0 contains the repaired direct-updater handoff intended for future releases; the next updater transition will be tested end-to-end before publication.

Vuttara Browser 0.2.0

Vuttara Browser 0.2.0 is the first feature update after the 0.1.0 public release.

Performance and streaming

  • Improved background-tab CPU, GPU, and memory behavior while keeping live-stream use practical.
  • Restored normal Chromium background throttling instead of forcing an entire browser window to stay at full background power.
  • Improved Kick stream stability and foreground video-surface recovery without keeping every tab fully unthrottled.
  • New Kick and Twitch stream tabs attempt 160p once when that quality is available.
  • Manual quality increases are respected after the initial automatic selection.
  • Kick remains eligible for Memory Saver unless the site is explicitly placed in Never sleep.
  • Added Vuttara-branded network, DNS, connection, timeout, certificate, 404, 408, 410, and 5xx error pages.

Tabs and omnibox

  • Vertical-tabs mode no longer shows a duplicate horizontal tab strip.
  • Added omnibox suggestions from open tabs, bookmarks, browsing history, prior searches, and direct search/visit actions.
  • Added matching local autocomplete to the New Tab search box.
  • New tabs focus/select the omnibox so typing can begin immediately.
  • Fixed vertical-tab context-menu stability.
  • Fixed clipped omnibox suggestions by expanding the chrome overlay while the dropdown is open.
  • Fixed omnibox typing focus so autocomplete does not steal keyboard input.

New Tab dashboard and creator windows

  • Added a customizable New Tab dashboard.
  • Editable quick links.
  • Recent sites and bookmarks.
  • Compact mode.
  • Restore defaults.
  • Fixed slash (/) input inside dashboard customization fields.
  • Added branded creator popout windows for Kick, Twitch, and YouTube dashboards.
  • Creator popout windows include a persistent Copy URL control.

Duplicate tabs

  • Replaced the earlier renderer-only implementation with a browser-process duplicate-tab engine.
  • Added a proper overlapping-tabs toolbar icon.
  • Added a live duplicate-count badge.
  • Manual duplicate closing from the toolbar.
  • Close Duplicate Tabs command in the Vuttara menu.
  • Settings > Tabs > Duplicate tabs:
    • Close manually with button
    • Close automatically on creation
  • Exact HTTP/HTTPS URL matching.
  • Active-tab preservation.
  • Normal and private tabs are evaluated separately.

Distribution

  • Direct Windows x64 installer remains available through the public VuttaraBrowser GitHub Releases repository.
  • Full development source remains private.
  • Microsoft Store distribution remains Store-managed and receives the same 0.2.0 application code through its own MSIX update package.
